My choice for down and dirty power binary downloading, too.
No install, easy on resources, resume downloading, UUE,
yEnc....multiple connections...k/sec download speed monitor...I loves
PowerGrab :)

I myself Use GrabIt for binary downloading, and Still use good old
Agent for post reading.

...and Fox Mulder in the 'about' box :-)

The May 2004 upgrade is woth having too

hmmm, I got Scully in mine..hehe
You wouldn't happen to know of a Linux proggie that is comparable to
PowerGrab, would ya ?
I am running SuSE 9.1 on a virtual drive...Pam seems to be the only
decent Linux newsreader I've tried so far...

I don't use PowerGrab, so I don't know, but you might want to follow
some links from <http://www.newsreaders.com/unix/utilities.html> to see
what's out there. If no one here recommends one in particular,
news.software.readers would be a good place to ask about something
comparable to PowerGrab.

I see you choose to use Agent with Windows, so I'd guess you will be
happiest with Pan for text.

Not much in the Linux market that would compare. There's this here. I don't
do binaries so haven't tried it.
http://freshmeat.net/projects/gbn/

Maybe better. In the WINE database it has a listing for PowerGrab 2002(ver
2.5)

Should have read Pan and not *Pam*...sorry about any confusion.

I see you are using KNode/0.7.6. Any way to *easily* get multi-part
binary files ? I see you don't *do* binaries...is this because of the
way KNode handles multi-part binaries.....Anyway, if you know of a
multi-part saving trick w/ KNode, please share it :)

Now this idea w/ WINE sounds like it might just work!
Didn't even think of that,hmmm....
Seems like PowerGrab was open source the last time I got a copy ?
...wish one of the Linux Gurus would make a Linux ver....
Thanx !

No. I looked over Knode before re: but they had to have something out there
to do binries.
I have never been into binaries even with Windows because there wasn't
anything I needed without finding it somewhere else.
I think they should(please) write an easy to set up RSS feeder/reader for
something to do.
That WINE database is only as good as the programs they try on it. Sometimes
a newer version of a prog will work. It's only because no one has tried it
yet.

Between you and I (Ya Right!) when I used WINE i felt like I was cheating on
my Mandrake. I did have a brief fling with Filezilla though. (I felt so
cheap)

FZ3 will be cross-platform, and botg is hard at work. Apparently it's
semi-usable now, and if you want to you can get the source from CVS and
compiile it yourself. He doesn't even want bug reports yet, though.
