Newsreader with certain functionality

I tried it out this morning. Smooth installation, very attractive
user interface, and it downloaded the newsgroup list without a hitch.
But when I tried to retrieve current messages for several groups, it
gave messages from last April. A second attempt retrieved messages
from July and August. I gave up on Xananews at that point. Too bad,
it appears to have a lot of nice features.

I believe you have to tell it to retrieve all messages otherwise it will
just pull a some number of them. I'm using 40tude Dialog which I think is
better than Xananews but I forget why. However if you do not tell it to
pull all the messages or set some kind of range it will just pull the
oldest 3000 or so messages. This isn't problem if you check messages every
once in awhile unless the group is a high traffic group. Nearly all news
reader require you to state if you want to download all messages or not
when there is hugh number of message(like if it is your first time using it
time using it).

Now I remember why I didn't like Xananews, it keeps crashing on me.
