Windows FX is one of the components of the Windows version presently
code-named "Longhorn" (in the same way that Windows 95 was named "Chicago"
before its release.) If I've got it right, "WinFX" is "Windows Framework," a
new API set. (And it's easy to confuse on first pass with "WinFS" which is
"Windows File System", but they shouldn't be confused at all.)

Thanks for the explanation. I have read a few bits in the NGs and what i've
read sounds really exciting.
We'll be in for a real treat when LH comes out, that's for sure!--

Two to three years isn't exactly "around the corner" :)

with that in mind, let's hope that the MS tradition of being late with
releasing final versions has been broken with once and for all since they
were a day early with releasing Xp final (which was the first Windows
version to have been released under Steve Ballmer, coincidence?).

Just been reading the Bill Gates interview about Longhorn, it makes
interesting reading and the comments posted about it. This was a link from
my ZDNet Week in Review that I just received.
