Hello? Yes, HE DOES!

Just look at this thread for goodness sake. How many have called him a
troll? 5-6? And how many of those he responded to? Zilch! Zero! Nada!
Nix! A big fat "O"!

Yup, that's ignoring them all right! Not only that but it makes the lot
of them trolls.

There you go. At the very least you lot should take a leaf out of his
book and NOT RESPOND with pointless garbage!

I tried asking you lot nicely last time but here we go again. I'm fed
up with twits in a feeding frenzy like a pack of piranhas every time he
posts anything. They don't contribute anything but just lay in wait.

Whoopty-do. A clueless mob can throw insults at a guy who's ignoring
them. Wow! What an accomplishment. We are all in awe of you. NOT!

Doggedly attacking a defenseless guy knowing darn well he won't
respond. Boy, what a brave and clever bunch you are.

Enough already. Man!

Seems to me that Don attacked Robert right from the get go, and from
reading Roberts post I can see no reason for Don's attack. This would
seem to be more of Don simply being Don.

Golden is merely an anonymous posting from Google, apparently the only
posting ever from that ID. Which causes very easy speculation here about
the actual source.

Bzzzzzt! No, it causes us to conclude without speculation that you've
got no clue about Google Groups. Ask someone who knows how to use GG.

As someone who knows how to use Google Groups, if I wanted to hide my
identity because it would undermine my credibility, I would set up
numerous shell accounts with attached fake/shell email addresses. A
sure sign of that would be different IDs only used for one topic or one
forum.

However, I think by looking at its posting history, Golden (Lasky?)
isn't such a character, but for some reason identifies with Don and
finds him reasonable. He has tried to make peace in the past. My main
problem with Don is that the signal to noise ratio is poor- he has some
valuable things to say (which I have learned from) but buried in
dungheaps of hyperbole and veiled insults.

I've learned much about scanning here and through practice over the
last two years, but I don't find it to be worth the trouble to come
here and try to help newbies anymore, and I haven't learned much here
of late. I'd rather work on the new weak link in my technical
knowlege- B&W inkjet printing- and I've found at least one nice,
troll-free group.

Please ignore Golden: he is a troll...

Not that your messages add anything to the discussion. Anyhow, since
you decided to come up with the same message every second time someone
posts here, the question arises, what constitutes troll behaviour.
Well, one symptom can be repeatedly sending the same message to a
newsgroup without actually saying something.

Whatever I think of Golden's writings, ATM I cannot say he is a troll;
never thought someone's deemed a troll simply because his world view
and mine don't check. Even Don is not in my killfile because he is a
troll per se but because his ramblings on one topic aren't of interest
to me - just like your 'Please ignore ...' warrants.

Either Usenet is now completely down the drain or this group has
nothing to discuss anymore but one's own ego.

Thank you! Finally someone with a brain who knows how to use Google
Groups.
but for some reason identifies with Don

NO I DO NOT! I don't give a flying pip-squeak about Don either way. I'm
just saying stop the moronic and useless badgering. It does nothing to
him but just annoys the rest of us and clogs up the group.
He has tried to make peace in the past.

Bingo! But there's no reasoning with morons.

If at this point Don comes out and says "Today's Wednesday" there will
be a moron responding with "He's a troll" and another moron adding
"Yes, he is" and another, and another, with lots of back slapping and
telling each other how smart they all are.

What a bunch of losers.

Thanks again! If only all the clueless morons weren't too dumb to read.

Seems to me that Don attacked Robert right from the get go, and from
reading Roberts post I can see no reason for Don's attack.

Look. Robert posted an unsolicited ad for a commercial product. That's
spam. He can dress it up any way he wants, put lipstick on a pig, but
it's spam and that's against Usenet rules of conduct. No two ways about
it.

Most people would shrug it off. Don didn't. That makes him a pedant.

Pedantry may be annoying but it's harmless.

But what's far, far, far more annoying and HARMFUL are clueless morons
who mob him at every turn like a bunch of cackling hyenas and clog the
group for days on end. And during all that time HE IS IGNORING THEM! So
it's no skin of his nose and they only annoy the heck out of the rest
of us. Morons!

Thank you! But the thin skinned moron is far too clueless and will now
start stalking you as well in a knee jerk reaction.

I don't know what's worse. A moron too clueless to realize the
stupidity of heckling someone who's ignoring him or a cowardly loser
who only dares insult people he knows are not going to respond.

Either way he's just proven that, like the rest of his moronic buddies,
his IQ doesn't even reach room temperature.

Robert said he was having problems with the new version and you take
that as an ad for the product?

Not very diplomatic.

I think the real issue here is that the regulars on this group are
trying to take it back and assert that their norms are the norms of the
group, not those of Don. Multiple people saying the same thing affirms
this. If this were a regulated community, Don would have been
expelled/banished/exiled, but it's not, so this is the next best thing
we can do to preserve a sense of community here.

The way Golden is insulting people in this newsgroup lately, makes him a
troll according the Wikipedia definition.

:-)

With kind regards.

I don't think either Don or Golden are trolls, just being hard to deal
with and insulting does not make them trolls, IMO.

Don can be a first class idiot from time to time but I don't think he
sets out to disrupt the new group.

I do think Don has a certain lack on integrity, but again this is not
really being a troll.

Internet troll - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia:
"A troll is someone who comes into an established community such as an
online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude or offensive messages
designed intentionally to annoy and antagonize the existing members or
disrupt the flow of discussion."

Maybe not "designed intentionally" but Don is sure "annoying the existing
members or disrupt the flow of discussion" by repeatedly attacking Ed
Hamrick's VueScan.
Golden "posts inflammatory, rude or offensive messages". The number of times
he repeatedly called people on this newsgroup "morons"...

With kind regards,

I agree and from what I've seen so far is the majority in here are
long time posters who have been quite helpful to many.

I would agree that Don can be more then a little annoying but the key
is I don't think he sets out to be.

I can't figure Golden out but still he does not seem like a classic
troll to me.

But your post simply saying that Don is a troll adds little to the
thread IMO.
