Has he finally brought back the tab counter on the status bar? I've
been long mourning that unjustified amputation.
Maybe not, I haven't seen anything like that ever. Have you discussed
it on the Myie2 forums?

It was in place up to about ver .078x.

As much as I dislike having to use web forums, I did make a special
effort, for this matter. Read up there, and posted. Basically cried
some public tears on the loss, along with those others who felt the
same way.

No good reason for him to have removed it. And it's something I really
depend on. One type of case when I need it: when I have 80-100 tabs
open is when I stop letting myself open more. With no tabs counter in
the status bar, that leaves no way to know number of tabs open, when
there are a good any.

I would like to use this program exclusively but it lacks a feature that
I consistently use every day with IE.

The Mail button on MyIE2 does not work the same way as IE. In IE the
Mail button gives choices of sending page, sending link, read mail, etc.
In MyIE2 it merely brings up the default mail client.

Is there a way to make it work like IE or do one of the other IE-based
multi-tabbed browsers offer this feature?

I haven't checked, but there's a high probability that there
are plugins that will give you buttons to do just this.

Yes, that function is available through the standard text toolbar, but
that defeats the purpose of iconized toolbars. If there are plugins for
that feature I would consider MyIE2 since it has some other nice
features. But in my case this is a showstopper.

Nobody can manage 100 tabs! 5 is the limit for me.

what kind of machine do you require to open 80 - 100 tabs, that seems
like it would consume _everything_.

Probably you're lucky. My intellect tends to be promiscuous and
unrestrained, wants to whore around with everyone in the bar. Let
it loose on the web, and it has to make out in every hallway, get
quickies in every parking lot. It's a curse I've got to live with.

My machine has serious limits. Resource limit because it's w98. And
then my RAM and video mem counts are also pretty low (it's an older
notebook). I've found that once I've exceeded 100-120 tabs, that's
when the ship is full, and ready to sink. Under 100 tabs, and about
60 is my average, and can still sail along happily.

One thing it occurs to me I haven't tried. Lots of tabs with the other
main browser family Gekko. When I use Kmeleon or Mozilla, my use with
them usually only involves less than 5 or 10 tabs. I wonder how well
on my system they could deal with tho ~100 range.

Sounds like its time for an experiment :)

I dont know if youd wish to go back to a previous version , but the
counter tab is in the version obtained here. Its an early version of myie
(i still use this version actually). The only "bug" with it that i can see
is that if you close all tabs your homepage icon greys out and you have
to restart myie. The version there is myie 3.2DE (B475)

Just read you use 98 (same as me) so maybe the version i mentioned in the
other post maybe ok for you as it doesnt contain the google toolbar that
crashes 98 when activated in later versions.

True - if you do prefer buttons - I'm sure this can be
achieved.

If there aren't already plugins (there are lots now) then it
won't be too hard to write plugins to do this. (A plugin can
be a simple javascript snippet.)

If there isn't one and you make a post in the myie2 forum,
it won't take long for someone to whip this up for you.

Thanks. What I often run is version 0.7.829 of Bloodchen't MyIE2. It's
the latest one that I could find that still had the tabs counter.

The one you're running, Changyou's MyIE, there is a feature with it
that is very useful to me, and which lacking in MyIE2. You can set it
to look at whichever folder on your drive you choose for its "groups"
(.cgp) files; not restricted like MyIE2 to the program install folder.

I adore the "groups" files. They're so extemely convenient to work with.
Almost making the bookmark systems of all the rest -- NSCP/MOZ/IE/OPERA/
etc -- seem antique and tortuous in compare.

Well, the utilities bar is still there. You can set the external
programs you want to run from Options -> Setup Center -> External Tool
and then make the Utilities bar visible at View -> Toolbars -> Utilities
Bar. Then you can drag it where you want it. You have to unlock the
toolbars first, though.

I'm not sure what you mean by being able to run web pages, though.
Sorry. I really like MyIE2, in spite of the fact that I'd really like
to avoid Microsoft. But any other browser I've used, even Firebird,
just doesn't work for me.

Hi..
What i meant was that using the utilities bar you could add , a web page
url(http://www.wilderssecurity.com/index.php) , or run an execution file
like cookie viewer ("C:\Program Files\Cookie Viewer\PTCookie.exe").The
icons for the execution files would show on the toolbar also and for the
urls (if any were chosen).I had difficulty in doing the above in the
latest version, and the utilities bar didnt seem as easy to use as the
older version to me.
