New HD - Vista activation ?

And having a modicum of tact when answering a poster is, sadly, rare it
would seem, that said, at least you did supply a bit of advice. Not
pertaining to what I was after, however.
I have no quarrel with activation.
What irritates me is the "It didnt affect me like that, ergo it never
happens" trolls, who don't give any help, but sneer and then whine when you
give it back in the same manner.

Yep, move up to a real operating system that doesn't have the
WPA/WGA/DRM crap. I would suggest Ubuntu. It's free and has access to
over 23,000 free programs and there is no need to activate, register or
become "genuine". Not only that, compared to Windows, it's bulletproof
in regards to being hacked or getting a virus or malware. Check it out
at http://www.ubuntu.com/

Actually, my motherboard DID need replacing by Fujitsu Siemens when I had
rebooting problems.
It was the same type board, but a LATER model

However, unless the motherboard or CPU is replaced by another brand or
model there should be no question concerning the components of the
machine. Hard drives and RAM should not trigger a reactivation as the
motherboard remains untouched.
Let's look at another scenario. I upgrade from Vista Home Premium to
Vista Ultimate. I, of course, get a new license with the Vista Ultimate.
I then activate my new Ultimate license. I find, upon trying to run
DreamScene or another application that requires a better graphics card
that I need to upgrade my graphics card. In this case Microsoft knows
that I upgraded from Home Premium to Ultimate and Microsoft knows the
graphics card was upgraded. Common sense tells me that the graphics card
upgrade was due to the OS upgrade. Why should I have to reactivate my
Vista Ultimate?
Microsoft needs to rewrite the software that triggers
reactivation. The current software is written to be overly broad and
seems to be willy-nilly inasmuch as whose computer is selected for
reactivation. You and I can change the same graphics card on two
identical machines running identical software with identical settings
and I am selected for reactivation while you are not. The same applies
to hard drive and RAM changes.
You and I both know what the software engineers at Microsoft are
capable of and we both know the software that triggers the reactivation
process could be rewritten to eliminate unnecessary reactivations.
Microsoft certainly has the right to ensure their products are not
misused or misappropriated to the detriment of the company. Microsoft
also has a responsibility to avoid unnecessarily alienating its
customers for no good reason.

Because everything goes swimmingly with some, it doesn't (and never has)
mean that applies to everyone.
When I had my 45 minute horror show, I flung the phone across the room in
anger and frustration
The Indian woman rang me back within a minute, and got things sorted.
The twice I have had to do it again (the price of allowing my niece onto my
comp) the first it wouldn't take again, and I had to type in the numbers and
activate that way, the next - no problem, first time over the net.

when he re-activates? Because the OP is obviously doing something VERY
wrong. And won't tell me what he does that causes his re-activations to take
at least 6 times as long as everyone else

Linux is a real OS based on Unix while Vista is based on earlier
versions of Windows and that is based on DOS.

Loosely speaking that is.....DOS is an acronym for "Disk Operating
System" which doesn't really fully explain the in's and out's of
Window's history etc.

.....and unless one is aware of the history between MS and IBM (hint OS/2
and NT) and the subsequent paths that were taken, then one is not fully
aware or competent to speak on the history of such OS's as Windows.

FWIW........just ma .02 cents worth. :-)

This is my story:
Firstly I wanna tell you, I have not certificated by any colleges or study
institutes and also I have learned all this from anybody, I have no teacher
in this context. I have learned and done all these skills and experiments by
myself, because which skills and knowledge I have no one can teaches me
about, because this is the knowledge only known by Microsoft And its software
developers. Because Microsoft® Corporation has not permissioned and or
recommended anyone to work on this technology, has made is It is secret and
prohibited skills and knowledge.
I know its not really easy technology to learn, the developer of this
technology has made it almost puzzled and made it un-understandable for
other, and keep them away from this technology to learn.
I don’t know how I can informed and tell you about me and my work (skills
and experiences), and I also think that a person knows every thing and the
persons who made and developed MS Windows® can’t understand what I am saying
to them at Microsoft®
Please mention how I can tell you about my work, guide me if I am on wrong
way, tell me if there is tests and examinations I shall have to taken or a
