Well basically, yesterday i bought Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 yesterday with some friends.

And to be honest, the graphics on my pc kind of fail nowadays.

As you know i'm getting another 1GB of RAM to go to 2GB overall.

However i'm looking at cards now too, and i was thinking of -

http://www.custompc.co.uk/reviews/88847/gainward-bliss-7800gs-agp.html#

Seems to be the best for AGP and 512MB which i like! :p

What's your thoughts?

IMO yes.

ATI
Powered by ATI Radeon X1950 PRO - 580MHz (RV570 80nm)
512MB-256bit 8 channel GDDR3 memory - 1.40GHz
36 Pixel shader processor
Ultra-threaded SM 3.0 Engine
512-bit Ring-bus
HDCP Enabled!!

Nvidia
GeForce™ 7800 GT GPU running at 425MHz
512MB 1200MHz high speed GDDR3 memory
Superscalar 20-Pipe GPU Architecture
SILENT Cooling solution
High-Speed DDR 256-bit Memory Interface
Dual 400MHz RAMDACs

and the ATI card is cheaper. But i'd also just save the cash for the new rig you want later.

Bought the Sapphire and 2GB ram today, that should make a very nice improvement and can't wait to play Ghost Recon on full wack settings!

it only has 2 DVI ports if the pic is correct but you should get an adaptor to hook it up to a VGA monitor

Ok cool, really can't wait now! Will come friday, but i'll think i'll wait with installing it once i have the 2GB just incase lol

Or shall i just wack it in with 1GB? :p

Just throw it in. What games do you play atm?

You should get decent enough frames on a 1280 x 1024 res, even on GRAW 2.

I have your monitor downstairs. Its good quality stuff.

V_R = I'm currently playing GRAW2 mainly now, since i quit WoW ;) Along with CS:Source.

Tell me about it Potguy, you heard it from him folks, good monitor!

Card should come today, however i keep reading a fair few reviews saying that they needed to upgrade their PSU due to lack of power.

I think this might affect me also seeing as my PC is about 3 years old now so i'm guessing that my PSU might not be able to handle it.

I really hope this isn't the case as i don't want to purchase a new PSU - i want to save money! BUT i've seen some PSU's for around 20 pounds, but these will be crap i'm guessing so ...

Anyway i can check the power of my PSU? I pray it has enough power! (What will happen if it doesn't btw, card just won't work?)

Thanks!

EDIT: http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=13654&category_id=264&manufacturer_id=0&tid=n/a - something like that?

thats a good point, never thought of that

pull the side off your case and see what it says on the side of the PSU

sorry to say if its not up to scratch your gonna be spending a little bit more than £20 for a decent PSU, you should be able to get something for ~£50

if your PSU isn't up to it your pc won't turn on, simple as that

Yay! Seems to have worked! So happy!

Just downloading the drivers as i type then i can't wait to get started with gaming!! :)

Thanks for the recommendations on the card people, and now i need to wait 1-2 weeks for my extra 1GB of RAM! I am a happy person! hehe

What is your PSU? I've got a Tagan 480w that is going to go on Ebay soon. PM if interested. :)

EDIT: you need to update your sig now. ;)

250W seems to be doing the job atm.

I might be intrested indeed ;) Will i need a better PSU for more RAM or am i just being stupid now? lol

And updating SIG now! :p

250? Tbh, i'm surprised. The RAM will need power but not a lot. IMO that 250 must be on the limit with that new card.
