Yes, it does all that.

You should have recommended that *before* I installed it. :)

Just wonder Ben... the link provided points to 3 versions - a plus
version, a version for Mac and a plain messenger version - given that
ML says it does not phone home, nag etc, i wonder if you are both
talking about the same version ?

Did you install plus or plain :-)

I clicked on the link in ML's post and installed Messenger Plus as ML
recommended.

It appears this program has gone off the rails. I have version 3.0.0.7 which
does none of the stuff reported by B. Cooper. I went back to the link, DL'd
and noticed the ver there is now 3.1. Installing reveals that it installs a
whole raft of files not included with my version. And B. Cooper is correct
that this version is afflicted with banner ads and a desire to call home.

Sorry for the duff leads. It's a great little proggie, so I'll be clinging
tightly to my old version. What are the options wrt to making it available
to others? I'm not interested in hosting, but would be willing to send it
along. Not sure of legal implications though. Somebody can advise me, if
interested.

What's the file size of the version you have?

yeah - he did say messenger plus, and the link he gave gives you
options for messenger plus or mac version or basic.

The way the OP was, seems like messenger plus - but often the plus
version of freeware turns out to be adware, whereas a more basic
version is freeware.

I see now tho that the OP has posted that he has a slightly older
version with no adware - might be worth looking at.

cheers

I don't want to inconvenience you, but would you be able to
email it to me?
I can give you an email address to send it to (not the one I
use in my signature).

From what I got to see in between denying outgoing
connections I'd like to take a look at a slightly earlier
version. :)

Yes, we had the right program but wrong versions. I hate it
when that happens. :)
Mostly, I'm interested in the ability to save a web page as
a 300 dpi TIF file with very little fuss.

Why don't you post it to alt.binaries.freeware?

Two issues:
1. Is it "legal"? Am I violating some actual or unspoken law posting it.

2. It's a 4 meg file. How would I do it?

You wrote the program yourself, didn't you?
How could that be illegal in any way?

It is probably easier to upload it to some web space and give us the link
to it. If you did not get some web space in your ISP account you can find
some "free web space" through google.

Here is a place where you can get a free web space, at least temporarily.

http://www.mher.org/

After you have uploaded the program to that web space, and checked that the
link to it works, tell the people here about it, give them the link, and
say that they can distribute the program freely.

If it is any good there are several people here who can give it a more
permanent home on a freeware site where people can find it and use it.

(This web space had problems earlier today with exceeded bandwidth and was
not accessible, but an hour later it was available again, so you may have
to wait a few hours to use it if it happens again.)

You misunderstand.
ML is talking about an out of date version of an eFax program.
Not sure if it can be distributed.

I am so confused.

Paperless Printer seems like a good product. What version should I be
downloading that is without any spyware/nagware/adware etc? And where can I
get it?

Okay, sorry, must have mixed up the threads then.

There was a guy here with a program he had written who wanted to publish it
somehow.

Ha! The Paperless Printer discussion is up there and around the corner. :)

Check the other parts of this cosmic thread.
I was talking to ML about the eFax Messenger Plus program before you and
Roger stumbled in a all dazed and confused.

I read the discussion and that is why I am confused :-)

Is version 3.0 better than 2.0 or is 3.0 the same as 2.0 except it has
spyware or nagware but maybe 3.0 does not have ....well you get the
picture.

Beats me. I didn't try any version of Paperless Printer.
