network printer does not print when a dial-up is used

Third paragraph seems to describe your issue. A "normal" use for your
modem would be to provide Internet connection services to your LAN. and
"your" PC would be the DHCP server. With the NIC and the modem both
receiving DHCP asssigned setting, I don't think you will make it work
the way you want. You may try IP bridge(see Windows Help) to get around
it, but it's not recommended to connect private network to outside.

Do you mean that a connection to internet is not posible through a modem for
a computer connected to a LAN?
Do you mean our LAN by private network?

The mask of 255.255.255.255 for dialup connections is normal.

The connection on the other end of the dialup becomes your new "gateway" by
default which can cut you off from your LAN,...which is also normal in some
cases.
In the Properties of the Dialup Connectiod "uncheck" the box that say "Use
Gateway on Remote Network". The exact location of that checkbox varies with
the version of OS,...you may have to hunt around for it.

This is a common thing for VPN users to have to do because VPN is a "Dialup
Technology". Disabling that feature as I described is called using "Split
tunneling".

Thanks for your helpful reply.
There is a check mark Use default Gateway in Remote Network on 'general'
tab in 'Advanced TCP/IP properties' window of the dialup connection, but it
says that this check mark IS USED when using dialup connection and LAN
simultaneously. Why does it say so?
