I like my local cable service which gives me 800 kbps both ways and doesn't
block anything, but they do monitor for mp3s (file sharing) type usage.

Jim,

I don't know how it is done, but it seems some ISPs have found ways to block
inbound/outbound port 80, but allow web access from browsers, may be they
are checking the UA string. They can also limit the file size that are being
uploaded and type, which can effect publishing.

Is this a new problem with FP? If so, what new hardware or
software
have
you
installed, have you switch ISPs or hosts?

Thomas,

Yes. I'm not having any networking problems at all.
Everything
but
FP
seems to be working as usual.

Thanks,
Phil

Phil,

Under Control Panel, Networking, do you have Client

Stephan,

The FP Admin that I am referring to is part of my
host's
(Cyrstaltech)
control panel. I am also dealing with them on this
and
they
say
my
extensions appear to be ok. I can tracert to them,
ping
them,
browse
them,
everything but connect with FP. For some
reason
FP
is
either
not
finding
the server or not connecting to it.

Yeah, if you have an ideal cable connection, it screams. Far outperforms
DSL. I dropped my cable company, however, when they screwed up our service
during the @Home fiasco. Wouldn't have had a problem with the pains of the
transition, but they lied to us and told us that we would not lose service
during the transition. Then when we lost service for many days, they lied
to us when we called. Bye-bye cable.

My DSL is darn close to what I was getting with cable and it's extremely
reliable.
