FWIW, I tried both MyIE2 and Avant and both caused fatal errors. Still
dunno why. Slimbrowser is the only IE shell that works for me.

I don't see how MyIE2 can possible affect your e-mail.

MYIE2 doesn't touch your email software. At least it didn't when I tried it
last. Do you use any spam filtering software? Some of these such as K9
have to have the server address as 127.0.0.1 and usernames are altered.

What's SPAM filtering ? [So he answer is no]
I got MOST of my Email accounts back ...
I'll contact my ISP for the a account

Thanks to all who were kind enough to answer

Frank

PS ... never DID find anything called MYIE2, nor any change to the browser
MSIE 6.0 :-((

If all you'd brought up was MyIE2, then I'd suggest looking into disabling
its "IE plugins support." However, this doesn't come in with Avant, so
leaves me without hypothesis on the strange difference you experience...

I've only run Avant a few times. My confidence, for turning to it for major
web browsing sessions, had been weakened by the reports that it has exhibited
resources use problems on many systems. (If there's been agreement that this
area of problem has now been decidedly fixed...that would be an update to its
reputation that I'd overlooked.)

Well, until MyIE2 supports the google search bar, I'm not interested.

No, it doesn't. It *says* it does, but after trying a multiple
combination of MyIE2 versions with googlebar versions, I got sick of
it. Either the toolbar didn't display or it caused a crash.

For common Google web search you don't need the toolbar. Just choose
from Myie2 setup google to your default search. Then you can type the
search phrase in the address bar and hit enter.

Yeah, I saw that...but I confess, I've become addicted to the features
of the googlebar :) Slimbrowser supports it, and does everything else
I want. MyIE is slightly faster than Slimbrowser, which is why I
*wanted* it to work.

I like the Google toolbar too but nowadays it is quite seldom I need
it. The addressbar search is usually enough. There is still the
problem with GTB, it is not sharing a row with some other toolbar in
MyIE2.

I use instead the alias ("g xxx" to search xxx in google, gn for
newsgroup, gg for google image, gi for italian search)...

TIGER!!!!

MyIE2 does BETTER than that. It has *aliases!

Simply type "g world's best freeware", and you get a google search.

I have mine set up with more aliases. Type "fedex nnnxxxnnnxxxxnnnnxxx" and
you get fedex tracking. Type "ups xxxnnnxxxnnnxxxnnnxxx" and you get UPS
tracking. Type "y search string" and you get a yahoo search, etc. And my
favorite: "gg tiger freeware" and you get google groups with all of tiger's
posts. :)

To me, this is far quicker and cleaner than that little search bar.

I once read of a way to change the default [ww.msn.com/ ?] search engine
for IE ... but lost it.

Does anyone know how to change it ?
I browsed the registry, without success ... :-((

So does plain IE, or mozilla.

Depends, can you highlight some foreign text, rightclick or drag it into
the search bar and autotranslate it? How about doing the same and checking
it with a whois, or open relayblacklists?

I can do that and more, with mozilla.
