However, bottom posting does not assure literacy, as you have well
demonstarted.

Ouch. That *starts* hurting. It *startled* me to see that.

The next version of Windows will carry (or offer) built-in Anti Virus.

yeah, like bundling an av program with the operating system has worked
so well for them in the past...

i wonder if they're going to call this one msav aswell...

I must have missed that one. When did MS include an AV with any of its
previous verions of the O/S?

ms dos 6{something or other}... i used to joke that there was no
anti-virus worse than msav... the thing is, it wasn't really a joke...

Sorry....it was a typo, it was meant to be *demonstrated*. I'm afraid my
spell checker is not always as efficient as it should be. Thank you noting
it.

There's always so much to-do about top and bottom posting, I was merely
trying to input a bit of dry levity, but, obviously, it went awash.

My apologies to all, no offense was intended.

Jan :)

it's idiots like you that have the problem
the reason that most people dont know about Pc's is because why should they.
should you be obliged to know the minute detail of the working of the
internal combustion engine to get a licence.. i think not..

as for educating the public, no.. computers need to get better. if you were
to equate the computer with automobiles, we are still just below the model t
ford stage....

You don't need to know =anything= about the internals of a PC in order
to practise safe hex .. 'don't open unknown attachments', 'use a virus
scanner', etc. etc. ... just like you don't need to know anything about
the working of an IC engine to learn 'stop at red lights', 'signal
before changing lanes', and 'turn your lights on when it gets dark'.

Ironic you should use that example;
cfr 47 part 95 class d operation was originally subject to licensing,
but, like herding cats, the task became impossible, license requirements
were dropped, and it became a huge polluted watering hole.
Have you listened to "Freeband" lately? ;-)

No, actually it was my mother and my uncle that were the
radio nuts. My mom was on civil defense radio and the
Civil Air Patrol (AF auxiliary) radio net, and my uncle a
ham operator and volunteer fireman. I was a radio and
radar repair technician in the service - so more hands in
than hands on. ;o)
