Memory

1 (
Crucial 512MB DDR PC3200 CAS3 - £28.79) or
2 (
Corsair 512MB DDR Value Select PC3200 CAS3.0 - £32.84) or

personally i'd go for the 256MB version as it has a higher memory speed, get 1GB of RAM IMO you cant have too much, also i think your going to need a PSU with a bit more power than those ones, something around 450 W should do

I already have 512mb so in total i will have 1024MB, you still think i should get 1GB to make my total 1512mb?

What about the Hiper Type R 580w Fully Modular PSU - It's good, got all the gubbins, and silent. Cheap too!

Get a gig of memory... if you aren't overclocking, get the value series of a good brand (GeIL or Corsair or even OCZ or Kingston)

Get the 256Mb version of a Gfx card - Games these days are starting to neeed the extra. Get a comparison chart and see what the nvidia equivalent is, and look at prices etc.

Hth, Chris

No your links are dead...

The Hiper 580w modular is one superb piece of kit and can be had for 60 quid if you look around.... and has fantastic write-ups and Reviews....:D

If i click on your links i get:

definatley need a bigger PSU, the hiper one sounds decent and for £65 its a bargain, if you've already got 512MB of RAM find out what CAS it is and but another 512MB to go with it

btw, your links are dead.

I think its because he may have an OC account, and be signed in, therefore we wont be able to see the pages, however if he signs out, then gives the links that way, is that logical?

You really think i need a bigger power supply! Surely 380w is enough?
640k RAM is more than enough for anyone ... Bill Gates

Surely 380w is enough?
Sure it is ... for an nForce 2 setup, no SLi MB

You cannot build a "cheap" PC yourself ... but you can build a dam good one, with enough money. :thumb:

;)

I currently have a 230w PSU :) lol. Im on a bit of a budget for upgrading my current pc so i dont really want to spend too much if i can help it.

How can i find the CAS of my current memory?

kingnathski has hit the nail on the head, beat me to it ;)

As others have said, don't skimp on PSU, it's a false economy, the Hiper looks good to me although I've no experience of it.

That may mean going for the 128Mb version of the video card if it's a tight budget, but the PSU is more important.

Looks as though your memory is PC3200/DDR400, get another 512Mb stick of the same, CAS 3, same make if possible.

You say it's 200Mhz, is that the fsb? It couldn't be PC1600/DDR200 could it? Unlikely.

1Gb should be enough, considering your budget.

You want PC3200 memory, don't buy generic no name stuff, get a known brand like Crucial, Kingston, Geil or Corsair. Ideally, same make as existing.

It says Nanya Technology on the specs using cpu-z so i duno if that is any good, does it really matter if i buy a diff make such as corsair?
