-Nero Burning Rom software

- Norton Antivirus 2003

What is the problem???

Hehehe. So you all say it's Norton. How do you know? Is this a known issue?
Do I just uninstall it completely?

Its just really bloated software that can't possibly take in every
configurations querks. It grows and grows until it seems like its everywhere
on your hd.

You don't need to - just make sure it isn't loading on boot. Go into
the configuration options and make sure it is set to not load on boot
- that should make it load on boot but with a red X over the tray
icon. Then use taskmanager to kill ccapp.exe. Then go into your
services and make sure all the Norton stuff is set to manual not
Automatic. Then check the Run keys in the registry and make sure
there are no references starting it there. Finally, make sure there
are no Tasks for it set to run. Whew! Norton is a bitch.

That way you can just use the context menu to scan suspect files and
folders as you desire.

Man, I wouldn't have ANY Norton product GIVEN to me.
I use Trend PC-Cillin 2002

Boki, if you've already bought norton then this is probably your best
course of action. Norton is fine when you disable all the background
stuff.

if you don't load the background STUFF then you will disable auto protect
and what good would that do?

Dude, you telepathically halt the virus? AND i am no luvr of norton....there
are many AV's that have background protection that aren't Bloated.

Thanks all. What I'm going to do, is buy PC Cillin 2003. I ran PC Cillin
2002(it came with the motherboard) and the virus definitions were stopped as
it was valid for only 3 months. I didn't have any problems. Then I bought
Norton and this goddamn program stinks.

What is amazing is my computer is an Athlon 2500 and 756DDR Ram and 7200rpm
harddrive. Unbelievable!!. I guess most consumers don't know. they just go
to a shop and just buy it. For me the choice was yellow box or red box. I
chose the yellow one. Bad move.

Never will I buy another Norton product. The funny thing is about 3 years
ago I had another Norton product, Norton System Works and it also slowed up
the system.
I sold that computer soon after but I remember clearly how the computer's
performance starts struggling.

He thinks he's too good for autoprotect...I agree with you, autoprotect is a
very valuable feature.

I side with Michael. Autoprotect is for those who like to see their system
run like a dog rather than simply learning how to download sensibly and
clicking a mouse a couple of times.

I agree.

Reminds me of that joke Eddie Murphy did long time ago. "Norton!, Why don't
you come over here and
**** me up the ass!"
Or the great "There was a rabbit and a bear shittin in the woods and the
bears asks the rabbit..."

Autoprotect is for those who like to see their system
run like a dog

that is a fallacy AVG. uses .05% while in the background, its only some
auto protects that bog things down, I do video rendering while it runs. I
can't see myself having to shut off file sharing and all other forms of
entertainment because I was too good to use protection....sort a like
don't worry I'll pull out before......Hey to each his own But don't hand me
that "I'm an adult crap", I'm 47 a grandpa and a dad I use auto protect and
use this damn machine for all its worth....router keeps the real bad guys
out...

No, just AutoProtect. I'm running it without AP and am experiencing no
problems. It may not fix the problem, but it is suspect since it seaches
every app you run and file you open for viruses.
