My machine has been ATI born again!!

for every game that crashes on your machine there are 1000's that run fine....hmmmm could it be your configuration OH NO
that's impossible...yeah right.....! I'm far from a fanboy of ATI but get to the root of your problem instead of pointing a single
finger at a video card. Direct X problems just don't occur?, and a DLL VXD left behind or currently part of an OS couldn't
possibly be the problem. OR some peoples insisting on loading 3D animation production SW (stolen MAYA pro)which they have NO
Business possessing in the first place). Fix your machine and quit whining.

Who the hell is whining besides you? I said clean installs, If you
do not know what that is, then that is your problem.
It ain't the machine, it is the drivers.

clean install fine I have a clean install, dirty install, one that had nvidia drivers all over...... and have NONE of those
problems what a fluke? a miracle? freaking holy mystical anomaly No And I am one of thousands that has this
experience...again what is WRONG with your MACHINE?

So should I take back the 9600SE and get a 9600 pro or will a 9600 non
pro be even just as good?
What differences shall I see?
I would like some better quality graphics but not to rip a hole in my
pocket book.

Quality graphics is the same for all the 9600...

The difference is how fast it can give it to you.

I don't know exactly how much slower the 9600NP is, but if you look at
the above, it should be better than the TI4200 listed.... But the
9600SE is about half the speed of a NP - with half the memory
performance missing.

pay as much as you can...

$130 = your SE, but $20 gets you a NON-PRO, but $20 above that gets
you the PRO and $20 above that gets you the XT.

(This is based on what you posted from CompUSA)

ComPUSA I think sells a NON-ATI brand for $150 for a PRO version.

Of course there ON-LINE purchases as well.. but I rarely do that.

Get at least a NON-PRO

Thanks for the tip Darthy

9600 pro here and loving it :)

Not a huge increase over my Gf3 ti 200, but enough for years before i
upgrade again.

Not the difference of upgrading from a TNT 2 to the GF3 Ti 200, OH MY
GOD, that was a HUGE difference, though i did upgrade the CPu from a
celeron 433 to a Xp 2000, that might have had alittle to do with it as
well.

Bye.
