My impression of Vista RC2

Yes, Apple did copy features of the $9000 xerox - funny thing though they
brought it to a price users could afford.

<snip>

As I recall, my Apple Lisa (pre-dated the Mac with a GUI /mouse) with the 10
MB hard drive, 2400 BAUD modem and Stylewriter II printer, along with the
7/7 suite was a little over $6,000.00 USD in 1983. So a 30% price break,
but still a lot of money. 'Course, a new Falcon NW desktop with everything
is priced higher than that today. Incidentally, I still have "Lisa" and she
still boots up and functions.

Thanks, I forgot about Lisa

I could be wrong but I believe Xerox introduced their unit 8010 STAR around
1981 for about $16,000 - without printer. I believe in 1984 it was down to
$9000

I was thinking of the first mac which went for about $2500 -- 1984 I
believe.

Again - I'm no computer history buff so I could be completely wrong.

The memory is fading, but I believe you are correct about the time the
original Mac was introduced. I have no idea as to the price but it seems
about right. It undercut the Lisa by so much, Lisa went out of production
shortly thereafter. I did buy an emulation program in 1985 that allowed me
to run the Mac O/S on the Lisa (dual-boot) since software for the Lisa was
nonexistent and for the Mac there was some. Brings back good memories, as
in those days a GUI with a mouse and clickable icons was extremely rare and
I had fun showing off the "newest thing!"
