Nice bit of tattooed retro there Mr Urmas :thumb:

I've only just become aware of this lot, me like muchly and yes, that's John Paul Jones on Mandolin:

And this song always gives me the tingles and I like Old Crow Medicine Show a great deal, so:

You too, huh? Did you by any chance watch "The Last Waltz" in a movie theatre when it was released? I sure did... three times.

Oh aye, I saw The Last waltz at the cinema when it was released and it's one of the few real DVD's I own, I never tire of it. The Band cooked, pure and simple, they had their very own downhome funkiness as well as having a country hick flavour.

In the summer of '69 I owned a '51 Ford Prefect E493A and Easy Rider was showing in London's West End, I think possibly at The Dominion in the Tottenham Court Road.

Me and me mate Colin drove up there, parked just off The Haymarket and watched the late night showing of the film. Afterwards I dropped Coilin off home then slept in my car at a car park in Grove Park, having temporarily fallen out with my parents, as that's what 18 year olds do.

The Weight has been with me ever since.

The Smith version (no sign of Morrissey in there ;) ) is passable, it's the version on the vinyl LP of the soundtrack I have, but it ain't the real thing. I posted the version I did as I like all the artists involved in that performance.

My soundtrack LP to easy Rider is not the original one I bought at the time. Early versions of the album had snippets of narration from the film but my current copy does not, I'd really like to get hold of one of those earlier copies.

Oh, and Flopps: Dave Rawlings Machine was new to me as well — vewwy good!

In the winds of Pleiades
In the dust of the Milky Way
Everyone went somewhere without being seen off
In the savannah of Pegasus
On the street-corner of Venus
Everyone went somewhere without being watched over
No one remembered the stars of Earth
People see nothing but the sky
Oh swallow! Teach from the high sky! The stars of Earth
Oh swallow! Where are the stars of Earth now?

Atop the cliffs of Jupiter
On the seafloor of Sirius
Everyone went somewhere without being watched over
Chase that which is famous; chase that which shines
People grasp nothing but ice
Oh swallow! Teach from the high sky! The stars of Earth
Oh swallow! Where are the stars of Earth now?

Chase that which is famous; chase that which shines
People grasp nothing but ice
In the winds of Pleiades
In the dust of the Milky Way
Everyone went somewhere without being seen off
Oh swallow! Teach from the high sky! The stars of Earth
Oh swallow! Where are the stars of Earth now?

Judging by Mr Urmas' music posting it must have reached the heady height of 12C in Finland - phew, what a scorcher :)

24 °C in Helsinki right now. That means I am safe. But only just. A heat wave warning is issued in Finland when the temperature raises above 25 °C.

:D
