Music. What are you listening to right now?

Some reallyinteresting stuff being put up here :)

I always liked A-Ha, underrated imo, they were better than 'just a pop band'.

REM probably peaked commercially with Automatic For The People' and 'Out Of Time' but my favourite all time REM album is curiously a mixture of outtakes, demos and dressing room rehearshals named 'New Adventures In Hi Fi'. It was recorded during and in the aftermath of their disastrous 'Monster' tour so it's all the more surprising this album gels so consistently.

Everybody Hurts is great, I've mentioned before it bought a tear to me eye when I saw them sing it at Glastonbury '03 but I've never been the one to take a shine to the stuff everybody else seems to. Which irritates me, a little.

I have the entire REM Catalogue on FLAC but on vinyl only New Adventures In Hi Fi, Green and Document.

This is my favourite REM track:

One more while the goings good, lol

Pink Floyd’s ‘The Fat Old Sun’. A Long time favourite of mine. It evokes feelings of England, Summer, Cambridge, Meadows, Bees Buzzing, Butterflys, Haystacks, Lazy Rivers meandering through wild countryside and long white linen dresses worn by flaxen-haired girls wearing straw hats.

This live version may have benefitted from the studio recording's use of church bells chiming. As much as I never go there, I do like the sound of them bells, very English. Hey, it's where I am.

For me it evokes a million memories but now, as then, it somehow seems to be underlined with melancholy and I’ve always wondered why this is.

It's possibly because the pubs were shut.

And from the same attitude camp as the Ozrics, here's a band I only ever saw twice, in '94 at The Astoria Charing Cross Road and at one of the Glastonburys.

and not only but also

It is a rare occasion that a female singer/songwriter plays the lead guitar so beautifully, she is really making it sing! I have always enjoyed her music and continue to do so since the 70's.

This young musician - Tina S - is just 14 yrs old. She plays a pretty remarkable rock guitar :D

That Nessun Dorma was good, and I don't really like Opera.

I bought the new Vampire Weekend album 'Modern Vampires Of The City' on white vinyl from my local record shop ten days ago and I have to say I think it's absolutely brilliant.

Like most good albums it's a grower and it took a few plays to click but this is a band who just seem to get better, this is their third release. A CD also came with the vinyl album in a plain clear sleeve should you want to rip it to your portable device/car player.

I doubt if many of you will be impressed by this but as I mentioned, it's a grower. Here's Dianne Young/Step/Unbelievers from the new album
