So, it may be a night build? Time will tell if it ends up being the
final build.

Yep, could be or might not be. You'll know by tomorrow.. :)

Yeah, I downloaded this one too. If they do release it tomorrow, it
might be announced on slashdolt. Then if that happens, forget about it.
From what I've read, the only difference between this build and what
would be released tomorrow is the timestamp.

By Mozilla Foundation MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.
The Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit organization
dedicated to preserving choice and promoting innovation
on the Internet, today announced the worldwide availability
of the Mozilla Firefox 1.0 web browser. Development of Firefox
has been driven by a desire for a more robust, user-friendly
and trustworthy web experience. Mozilla Firefox 1.0 arrives
on the heels of last month's highly successful Preview Release
that over eight million people downloaded, contributing
significantly to the final phase of its open source development.

electrocuted and probed.
Not insulted!

If you mean it may be hard to download due to volume, that doesn't
seem to be the case so far. Mozilla.org has a lot of mirrors and a
load-balancing system; I just got 1.0 from their main ftp
site without any slowdowns.

The MD5sums don't match, and the released 1.0 identifies its engine
as Gecko/20041107. I think you have a nightly newer than the 1.0
release.

Just arrived on main Firefox page.

The wait is over. Get Firefox 1.0, the faster, better web browser. Now
available in 14 languages, for Windows, MacOS X and Linux.

Perhaps you (I certainly have *not*) will jump for joy when the 1.0
Final-release proceeds to *disable* many (if not most) of your earlier
Firefox extensions.
I was so naive as to believe this install would be as trouble-free as most
earlier Firefox builds/releases; was *quickly* dis-abused of that notion.
Imho (yes; In My Humble Opinion), until F-F 1.0 can boast it "allows"
mass-quantities of previous(ly) installed extensions, then it (1.0) should
*not* be installed.

Yep, I actually think they were nuts releasing it now. The extensions
problem is an easy one to workaround, IF YOU KNOW HOW. But, the general
population does NOT KNOW HOW.

There is also the issue with memory clean up. FF is not doing that and
they are aware of the problem and have been for a long time.

I do know how to do the "workaround" thing (editing edit the appropriate
"install.rdf" file, opening the "outer" file, extracting [the] "install.rdf"
file, making the needed change, then replace the un-edited file with the
freshly-edited). However......
The most-recent incarnation of "1.0" decided, in its' wisdom, to disable some
*Twenty-Two* of my long-used & *much* loved extensions. Would *you* go running
around, as a "chicken with its' head cut off", opening up *22* .xpi-files,
performing surgery on each individual .rdf, etc., etc.?
I wouldn't, and you wouldn't either (I save previous installs of Firefox;
re-installed RC-1 [Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3)
Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1]).
There is also the issue with memory clean up.

Yes; F-F has been crashing a tad too much, recently & not so.

That's not the workaround that I do. I change one about:config setting.
