Wesley:
According to the OS, the moricons.dll is a file NOT a "folder".
Yes, the automatic Default is the %SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll path but
you have to scroll through hundreds of icons to get the one you want. AND,
they're not even what you "think" they are. Example: I was looking for a
"Telephone" Icon in WINDOWS default and it was under "WINCHAT" and had
nothing to do with a file of "Phone" like you'd expect it to be.
SECONDLY, If I want to reference the WINDOWS ICONS (a lot easier), can I
create a "Shortcut" or (Copy them to my Separate Hard Drive) and Delete the
other .dll icons that don't have a picture? If you notice...the DEFAULT
ICONS have the photos (like WINCHAT (phone) Icon) but a windbrand.dll (is an
icon) but no picture). Could I copy these icons and DELETE the .dll files
that I don't need so I can scroll through LESS of these icons without
corrupting the system? As I can understand this, the default icons are also
associated with .exe files so if you copy them...you can't open them for
executeable files because they're just the icon file and have no executible
features to it because it will ask you to "search for file" on web to open
the associated .dll file (or any other icon).
I've customized many systems (including my own) but as you can agree...it's
so mundane (and boring) to see yellow folder after yellow folder when you can
personalize the icons to do what you need. Agree?
I know WINDOWS HAS to have more icons than what they have because some of
the websites I've been to to download icons...have a different icon and not
viewable by WINDOWS so I've deleted them. How do you make Icons that are
viewable in Windows if they're not compatible with the system32 folder? Is
there a way to CONVERT them?
Lastly, can I use any of my artwork logos as ICONS? If so, how?
Thanks for your info and I look forward hearing from you.
Respectfully,
Bill

Mike,
I just checked on it when I read the OP.
Change Icon button defaults to %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll.
It's a lot of work navigating to %homepath%\My Documents\ICONS so it hardly
seems worth it navigating to moricons.dll.

One learns something new every day.. whose idea was it to include icons
that go back to the days of Lotus 123 v.1?.. I thought that the moricons
file had been dropped..

How can I get "moricons" to open? I have the .dll file, but I get a
message that there is no application attached and I have to create a
file or folder? I also want to know how to download new icons and where
to put them so I can use them to change icons
