Ok i got confused by the terminology you were using. When you said composite
I thought you meant S-Video as the cards don't specifically have Composite
outputs without the adapter that comes with the video card.
Since you are using VGA, you have one option really. I'm assuming that the
card has dual DVI output or 1 DVI and 1 VGA. In either case, connect your
Dell monitor as you normally do and start the computer up.
Use the DVI-VGA converter on the second DVI output and run a VGA cable to
the TV.
You should now have both displays plugged into the video card at the same
time.
Depending on how your video card drivers dominate the display configuration,
you will need to setup Dual Displays in the Windows Vista tool or using the
driver tool that you access via the Advanced Properties button in Display
Properties.
The best configuration would be to Span your desktop rather than setup a
clone configuration. There are two span configurations however. One span
conifguration requires that both displays have identical resolution settings.
The other allows you to independently conifgure each display's resolution.
Documentation suggests this configuration runs slower but I use an
independent configuration and it runs fine.
If you have trouble doing this just ask. For now I'll assume that you can
set that up.
When you are done configuring Dual Displays. You should now have both
screens with two different images. Moving your mouse to the right of the
first display should cause the mouse to appear on the TV.
Go back into the Display Settings via the Personalise option in the right
click menu.
You'll see two displays marked "1" and "2". Click on the Indentify Monitors
button at the top right. Each monitor will show a number. If the TV is no. 2,
click on the box with the "2" in it. There will already be a tick in the box
"Extend the desktop onto this monitor". Put a tick in the "This is my main
monitor" box. Click apply.
If all goes well, the screens will swap images.
Click on the box that represents the Dell monitor. This will be "1" if the
TV was "2". It should only have a tick in the "Extend the desktop onto this
monitor" box. Take the tick out of this box and click Apply.
The TV should now be the only display with a signal on it.
Disconnect the Dell monitor from the video card and reboot to make sure that
this configuration resumes.
