Thanks for the help.
I figured it out. I'm an idiot! :-)
All it turned out to be was that on my chart I had the bars in color AND
with patterns. I did this so if someone printed it on a non-color printer
it
would be easy to differentiate. I guess Word thought the same thing and
just
did it that way; i.e. not both elements. Once I took the patterns off it
copies in color as I'm used to.

This is the PowerPoint group, not the Word group, so I don't know if our
fix
will work in Word or not.

Anyway, install a color printer driver (you don't have to have one
actually
attached to the computer) and set it as the default printer. Or heck,
maybe
you just need it installed -- you might not even have to set it as the
default printer. Here are instrux:

I don't know why this would start happening all of a sudden -- or,
indeed,
why it happens at all. Sorry. I know it's frustrating.

I am having the same issue. I am copying a chart from excel to word
using
the save as picture metaphile. I've done this lots in the past with no
problem. But now when i paste it automatically goes to black and
white.
I
don't have a color printer available as a default, but am sending the
file
to
someone who does. The issue is if it worked before, what did i change
w/o
noticing it that they now copy as no color. the smart tag allows me to
past
as picture (of which it then goes in blacke and white), as an excel
chart
(but then i need to resize it in excel before copying), or as a link to
excel
chart (same issue as above)

it frustrates me because i used to do it all the time and then all of a
sudden, poof, i can't get what i want.

:

Very good, now it just works. But what is the problem?

I can't set always the color printer as default printer for this user.

Any ideas?

:

This will sound odd, but set your default printer to a color
printer.
That
should take care of it.

Hello,

I have a problem when I copy an colored text from excel to PPT.
For
instance
if I copy a red text to PPT, the text color will reset to black.

What Do I wrong? I works when I using an different account on the
same
machine.

Thanks.

LOL, not sure.

I had a similar problem yesterday, copied a chart and pasted in power point.
This was one of many charts I moved over and after about 7 charts this one
went crazy. I didn't lose color but lost bar column titles on my chart. I.T.
spent 20 minutes trying to figure it out without a solution.

I found a 'QUICK FIX' though. It doesn't solve the problem but it keeps the
work flowing.....

1) Copy chart in Excel
2) Open Word Document
3) Paste chart in Word (no need to save the doc)
4) Copy the chart in Word
5) Paste in Power Point

I don't know why that works, and don't really care. Just glad to be moving
forward.

Hope it works for you1
