Thanks John (and Andre).
For my purposes the Digital Images 2006 starter edition meets all my
needs...what happens after 60 days, since you can' upgrade or buy
it....does it carry on working?

Basically all I want is to be able to edit and update old PI2001
files (.PNG files) I already have using roughly the same tools.
DI2006 sems to do this, and it works on Vista (though precious little
else does, but that's another story!)
I don't need templates and all that stuff.

Many thanks
Mak

Yes, you can still purchase Digital Image Suite
Anniversary Edition...you just have to check with
suppliers like Amazon and eBay.

After the 60 trial expires the program should still
function in reduced functionality mode.

I'm getting a new Sony laptop with Vista, but desparately need my PhotoDraw2.
Before I purchase a copy of this software, will I be satisfied that it will
work OK? Right now XP does just fine, but I need assurance. Thanks!

Unless you get a new Vista driver from the maker it will not work. To
install the driver go to their website, either find a driver by the model
number or just software version, download it and install. You may need help
from their "live talk" which is an email exchange. Works pretty well.
Prepare your questions in advance and paste them into the window.

Setting it to Windows Server 2003 SP1 would not make a significant
difference, since XP (version 5.1) and Server 2003 (version 5.2) are
technically the same version. Server 2003 only adds a new version of
IIS, NOS technologies and more code hardening for Server
environments. As for Picture It! I would just update to a more recent
release or use Windows Photo Gallery which basically incorporates a
majority of the tools available in Picture It! except for the lack of
stock content.

Thanks for your input on Windows Server
2003 SP1. One user had reported success
using that option and I simply share the info
I have available...it did not work for me.

The OP wants to open and edit Picture It!
2001 .mix files which are not compatible
with Windows Photo Gallery. The latest
(last) version of MS Digital Image.....
"Microsoft Digital Image Suite Anniversary
Edition" would be the best option.

What a shame that you will buy microsoft software and microsoft creates a new
operating system that will not run that software. you then have to spend more
money on new software to replace the old software that is only good until a
new operating system comes along. Oh thats right, they did this to Xbox
customers when the Xbox 360 came out.
Thanks microsoft!

Hi john, i downloaded the 60 day free trial of the digital image starter
edition 2006, it very much like picture it 7, except it does not have frames
on it, like picture it 7 or do you not get everthing with it being free, i
have read the help page & it says you can do it, but there is no frames to
use.

Correct...you only get the clipart and
projects with the retail version.

Look for.....
"Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006"
(there is a Vista compatibility patch
available for this version)

MS Digital Image 2006
*Vista Compatibility* Update
http://tinyurl.com/w5u58

or...
"Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006
Anniversary Edition" (this version is
optimized for Vista and doesn't require
the patch)

This software line has been discontinued
but it may be possible to find copies at
online sites like eBay and Amazon.

Hello:
I have just upgraded from an XP computer to one with Vista. I LOVE to
work with my Picture It 2001 software, but the new computer will not let
me save and most of the time it will not even let me work on my
pictures. What can I do????? I am desperate! Any suggestions?
I do not believe it is possible to make Picture It 2001 run in
Vista, unfortunately - one reason I'm hanging on to my old XP machine.
