Keep getting tons of fake microsoft email, anyone know microsofts email
address so I can forward them it. Maybe they can doi something to stop this
spam. Anyone else getting this junk?

Attachments contain worms/viruses. I doubt Microsoft could do anything
even if they cared.

It's the latest designer thing going around. Just about every one is getting
a gush of them. Simply delete them and move on. It'll be over in a day or
so. Be sure your AV is up to date, and don't fret. It's like getting the
mumps...hurts like the dickens for a few days, but, then you get well...just
don't eat any dill pickles in the mean time...'k..??

Yeah...got like 30 of them a minute ago...thankfully Norton is up to date so
there was no har done....it's still very, VERY annoying though

My Norton AV definitions are up to date. Yet the AV is doing nothing to
identify this worm (W32.Swen.A@mm). Should the Norton AV identify it and
quarantine the worm?

I am currently receiving about 20 emails per hour related to the worm or to
undeliverable emails, not sent by me, but with my address in the return
path.

Any suggestions besides just waiting it out?

Arthur,

You might try dadiHO's suggestion from a thread or so below;
Depending on the mail program you use (I use Pegasus) you may have
the option of deleting the messages directly from the server without
downloading. It's called a selective download.
And if you don't have that option, MailWasher will give it to you.
http://www.mailwasher.net/

I use OE6 and I have set my message rules for various versions of the
messages to be deleted from the server before they can even be downloaded.
It has helped, as I am only getting about 2-3 per hour now.

Might be worth a try. it might at least thin them out a bit. But, if the
slip in new subject lines, just set a rule for that one too, then delete.

Best regards,
Jan :)

Many pepole here are getting these, maybe they should
send them all to *you* to see if *you* can do something
about it.

Go ahead and mailbomb Microsoft if that's what gets you off,
but I think their mailbox capacity is probably quite large, and
their filters adequate for the task ~ how about yours....

dude... It doesn't have nothing to do with flooding microsoft
hell I know isn't sending them....
what kinda moron do you take me for ?

you can use it to filter email on the server and not download them at all.

plus...its free.

I have oe6, where is the message rules???

For me it's day four and it only now seems to be abating. I just called the AP in New York. They'd
heard nothing about it but were interested, 'natch. If there is a god, she will find the offending
motherfucker and make his dick fall off.

Hey Penny!

LOL!!!

Can't speak for the NY Guru's, but, God may be listening, and she may be
taking pity. While my Hotmail is still being bombarded, I just set up the
Message Rules in my OE6 when the storm started and added new ones as they
mutated, and now I've only had one all day today...??

As for the other part(s) ...can't say I find any fault with that <g>
However, could it not be a female?? Nah..... We all know females have no
viable knowledge of computers, so how could they have conjured up such a
vile thing, when we all know they can't even find the keyboard without a
flashlight and Yahoo map. Plus, it would have taken time to put all this
together, and we all know that timeliness is not consistent with the female
genetic make up.

After all, look how long Adam had to wait for Eve to show up ...;-))

Hi Stephen...

I have one, where is the message rules???

Never mind some of the natives..:-))

If you go to Tools on your top toolbar, then click on Message Rules | Mail.
When you open this it will display a dialog box that will list a gazillion
selections. What I did was, select the Mail Rules tab, then the New Rules
tab, unchecked the first box which is usually automatically checked, but, if
you want to leave it, that's fine. The second check box gives you the option
to select the Subject line of the e-mail. So, you can then select what
specific words you want the selection to look for, such as 'Microsoft
Network Security Update, MS Internet Security Patch...etc, whatever the new
message says. In the second box, if you go to the bottom, you will find a
box that says "Delete from Server'. If you check this box, it will delete
all incoming e-mails that contain the words that you have specified in the
first box.

If you have a problem with doing this, just post back here. In spite of all
the cranky 'Anthony Adverse' folks here, someone will be happy to help you.
'k..?

Hope this might help. I'm no expert, but, it worked for me. The
Help files really are sometimes less that user friendly. ;-))

Have a very great day!

The kind that dons his own "kick me" sign? ;o)
(I didn't call you a moron of any particular kind)

I wasn't replying to you, I was replying to this from Stephen Rabinowitz:

*******

*******

Why advocate forwarding the malware to Microsoft?
What good would it possibly do to forward "tons" of
e-mail to any single e-mail address if not to mailbomb.
you can use it to filter email on the server and not download them at all.

What "it" are you referring to ~ "Mailwasher"?
"MMM"?

I use Mailwasher myself ~ good program.
plus...its free.

Donationware, you can toss him a few crumbs if you want.

...or alternatively - "Message" ~ "Create rule from message..."

You will find "Message" right next to "Tools" where Jan Il said to look...
