I don't think Windows Defender will go away, or lack definition support--I
guess I've been overstating that question. Maybe once OS's of which it is a
component are beyond their extended support life--but that is a long way
off.

There is a lot of FUD going on MS News regarding this, launch date is tomorrow AFAIK.
MS is said to extend the amount of limited Beta's as needed.
 
Yea, I have been watching MS Connect, MSDN and MS TechNet and no activity.
It will probably be an all day ordeal and I'm sure everyone is poking too,
trying to be one of the 75,000 downloads.
