Hi Everyone:

Thanks for all the friendly and helpful assistance here. Here

Response for Alex from MechCAD Software.

Hello Alex:

Thanks for the prompt followup. In the site of Ace Money both the
freeware and shareware are kept very close in the top left hand side.
It is easy to get confused, specially when one is surfing a lot of
sites. I downloaded the shareware initially, while install it said
that it is not free and there is a fee. I felt that wasn't right.
Perhaps others may face the same confusion. In all the other sites,
freeware and shareware are clearly labelled as such. After the
clarification I downloaded the Lite Version. Perhaps I should have
also seen more carefully the first time.

Best Wishes,

Vijay

Note: I post via Google so this message may appear in a slightly
different thread eventhough on the same topic.

So Visual Thought should not be classified as "freeware"? Niggling
correction to PL? Pure pedantry?

Why isn't Visual Thought freeware?

in general - pure pedantry . . . I'm guilty of it too. ;)

Our definition of freeware is the standard we use as a guide - and it's
a very useful one - especially when posting. If a program is not true
freeware the flaws should be noted. Newsgroup participants want this
information - flames are likely if you don't furnish it.

The About page does discuss "specific issues" => less than *100 percent
pure* Pricelessware programs.

There are NO Adware/Spyware programs in the Pricelessware List. Some of
the programs include special notations that indicate a specific issue
with the program. The program may be liteware, registerware etc. See
INFO for definitions of ware types. Other notes such as "Last available
freeware version" may also be present.

The information *is* there but I may revise that paragraph to make it
clearer that "specific issues" means a program is not *100 percent pure*
freeware.

Susan,
I should have been less eliptical. Merely tweaking you about Visual
Thought (VT) being "13 year trialware" rather than "freeware" (per PL
2003 VT description). Unless VT starts being maintained, the
"trialware" aspect is moot. Sometimes (oft times? usually!) humor
just doesn't make it through the email barrier. Keep up the good
work.

BTW, someone with the program will have to check, but I think we all
have less than 11 years left ("Expiration Date: Thu Feb 13 23:59:59
2014"). Another limit, "Simultaneous Users: 10" per

Or should that be
<pedantry>... </pedantry>
?

Humorously -- or is that pedantically -- yours,
