Damn, damn, damnitty damn. 08:00 rolls round, up pops the nagscreen. And
I really liked that program too.
What was the other really good FTP client? Pref. with FXP capability and
definitely with CHMOD

Heads up, dood. CHMOD supported. That's at least 1 for 2. Might be worth a
look... }:O)

BlazeFtp - Free Multiple-Session Ftp Client Software
Free Fully Automated Multiple-Session Ftp Client!

BlazeFtp is a multiple-session and cache-enabled ftp client with offline
searching capability. It's slim, easy to use and powerful. You can learn to
use it in several minutes. BlazeFtp also has many special features making
esp. convenient to be used by webmasters.

What's New
V2.0

* BlazeFtp has become Freeware!
* Add chmod command support
* Add site drop-down menu from the toolbar
* Add jobs drop-down menu from the toolbar

Incidentally, if you like it, you might want to report back. I would
also consider mentioning it during the next pricelessware vote (if it
is found to be worthy, naturally). SmartFTP will need a replacement,
IMO, since nagware has no place on the pw list.

I do like it. I've found one glitch; if you turn "local caching of
remote files" off, then nothing at all appears when you connect to a
remote site. Apart from that, it's exactly what I was after.

Downside:
It *doesn't* have TLS/SSL or any encrypted modes; it *doesn't* support
proxys; it *doesn't* support command-line; all of which are fairly large
missing parts IMO
It sends a command to refresh the list of the remote site, rather than
"noop"; which is irritating rather than a serious fault.

It's a simple and much more intuitive interface than SmartFTP. I
particularly like the fact that remote windows stay on the right hand
side (unless you want to FXP, in which case, you connect to multiple
sites; right-click the tab of one of the sites and move the window to the
left-hand side and drag and drop files as appropriate). Another thing I
like is that there's no memory-leaking graphs and similar fluff: there's
just a list of files awaiting transfer.
You can also set up your transfer list 'for later'; which means that you
can do complicated transfers involving many 'from' and 'to' directories,
and not have to be there for every single directory....set up your list
and go to the pub.

I like it.

Thanks for the link. It is indeed 1.0.971, but I get a "this program has
not been updated for 92 days" error message followed by an abnormal program
termination. It's the MSI installer - that might have something to do with
it.
Yes thanks for the link. That was my favourite ftp client until it
went nagware. I just d/l the file and installed it and indeed got the
same '92 days' message but it installed no problem and was able to
browse some of the ftp sites in the programs favourites. Thanks again.
