something that you can drag and drop, that will work in xp.

email amc at look dot ca.

i've tried lately few ftp clients, and found "BatchFTP" to suit me most. easy to
configure, drag & drop, batch transfers, Scheduling and more.

BatchFTP does need a registration (free)

I use a pretty recent copy of SmartFTP, and I've never seen a
nagscreen. Storming app IMO. And I get a 500 "server is toast"
error too. I can email it to anyone who wants a copy in the
meantime.

Maybe upload it to alt.binaries.freeware

I've been using eLeet FTP for the past 6 or so years and it is the *easiest*
FTP Client that I have ever tried, bar none, including the pay for versions!
I didn't think you could still find it for download, but it is located here,
and it *may* even be a later version than I'm running on Windows XP Pro. By
the way, it was designed to run on NT so it ran on WinXP without a hitch.
Download it here:

nagscreen.

Your special, I guess. };O)

I (and others) have, though:

No matter, FileZilla is perfect for me.

Indeed I am special. =8-Þ
I have recently converted to SmartFTP; have used build 1.0.976 only and
have not seen a nag screen.

Incidentally, the site is back up and it's up to 1.0.978

Thanks for the info.

If I get bored someday, I may try it again. I loved it before I made the switch. A
great program.

Actually, I could be wrong about the nagscreens. I have never seen one;
but upon further checking, I've only been using it for 32 days and rarely
during office hours, so it's possible that me and the nagscreens have
missed each other. This from the SmartFTP knowledgebase:
The "License Reminder" dialog is part of the unlicensed version. It is
displayed randomly from 8am to 5pm on workdays (Mon to Fri). For
private & educational use and usage by a non-profit organization,
licensing SmartFTP is optional. The unlicensed version has no
functional limits.
This dialog is not displayed in the licensed version, and purchasing a
license will remove the reminder.

I'll leave it on all tomorrow and see if I can get a nagscreen to pop up.

Damn, damn, damnitty damn. 08:00 rolls round, up pops the nagscreen. And
I really liked that program too.
What was the other really good FTP client? Pref. with FXP capability and
definitely with CHMOD

Again, are we sure this should still be listed as pricelessware?

I've taken SmartFTP off my list for now...nagware ain't freeware in my
book. I've also trotted over to the SmartFTP forum and asked them if
they have any plans to remove the nagscreens....it's a bit cheeky I
know, but I'm damned if I'm gonna send them traffic for a nagware app.
Maybe something will happen.
From what I read on the sites, neither FileZilla or AtomFTP will do it
for me. *sigh* more testing ahoy!

A follow up to the above. The post on SmartFTP's BB asking if they had any
plans to remove the nagscreens got deleted quietly.
.....So I guess the answer's no then. =8-(

Doesn't the License Reminder indicate that private users can get the
optional license to get rid of the nags?

A thread here in March or April 2003 mentioned that the last no-nag
version of SmartFTP was 1.0.971. Last night I found the following file

http://fignewtons.nuclearfallout.net/SFTPFull.zip

The setup process that executes when the unzipped file SFTPFull.exe is
run says that it is installing version 1.0.971.

Thanks for the link. It is indeed 1.0.971, but I get a "this program has
not been updated for 92 days" error message followed by an abnormal program
termination. It's the MSI installer - that might have something to do with
it.
