Long USB cables

Of course, but sometimes (maybe due to some interferences) using wireless I
found many problems even only between the room of the access point and
another one when I have the PC (continous disconnecttions and
reconnections).
Thanks.

Hard to say what the problem was, maybe interference or
maybe just a bad wireless product. Most people can connect
wirelessly between a laptop and base station at least a
couple rooms away unless their walls are unusual.

I would still try wireless first, just buy from someplace
with a good return policy and if it doesn't work well,
return the product and try another one.

But it would just be a $6.00 cable that would work without any problems,
instead of a bunch of junk to try and get the inferior USB to do the same
job.

Exactly, plus the network card has lower overhead in use
than USB (but I'd still try wireless, it is so much better
when the laptop isn't tethered by a wire (kinda defeats the
purpose of having one, IMO), and allows more versatile
mobile use away from home. Wireless 802.11g has gotten
quite cheap as well, for the past half a year or more I'd
seen deals on card/router combos for under $20 after
rebates... but all these prices are in USD, I've no idea
what it would cost to get this working in Italy.

Then why can't you just use a piece of string, or telephone cable?

Why can't you reply to the person who wrote the comment you're replying
to, rather then attaching it further down the thread?

Ok, thanks, I thought that every extender had to be powered. I need it to
connect a notebook to an ADSL (powered) modem 10m/32ft away.

In theory, every extender needs to be powered (and each one adds a
measurable amount of latency too, incidentally)

In practice, you can push the limits with good cables run along
electrically clean paths (not near AC wiring)

That being said, you might do better with ethernet, a 32' run is nothing
for ethernet, no amplifiers required.
