That doesn't work for me: I get (in red) "Coupon LINDOWS is not
intended for the product/service you are trying to apply it to."

(I've tried "lindows" and "Lindows", in case it's case-sensitive; same
response each time. Maybe it's a US-only deal.)

I'm in the US and it didn't work for me.

I don't use BitTorrent either.
You don't have to... I used the http link.
They will show you a list and queue you up...
I had no. 20 and it took about 20 minutes
until I've got the signal for my download.

Beware, this is a > 500 Mb download... Dialup users need not apply.

The average transfer rate for the torrent is such that it doesn't matter
whether you're on dialup or broadband.

Wouldn't it be easier to download Mandrake?
yes. and it'd be just as useless too.

To forgive is divine. To oink is porcine. To purr is feline.

To moo is bovine. To howl is lupine. This list is assinine.

Well I've got it :-))
521.9 MB (547.211.264 bytes)
I will let you know if it's worth to queue up ...

can you post md5 checksum value for the binary? If more than one person
get the same checksum, then chances are the download wasn't corrupted.

I'll post mine when the transfer is done (4.5 more hours based on the
current rate ).

It works just fine, if you want to jump through all the hoops to get to it.

I quit when they wanted my credit card number "in case" of excess charges
after my 15 day free trial membership expires.

The download was in my cart, billed at $0.00.

Here was something interesting - if you quit your free trial membership
before the 15 days is up (in other words, before they've begun to bill you
for it) any software you've installed on your computer will be
automatically disabled.

Sounds like the old bait and switch trick to me. They can keep it.

Otherwise try the link and explanations on that German site
that I pointed out earlier.

The German site takes you right to shop.linspire.com. That's how I got
there.

yes, but it also explains what to do and what not to do :-) at least
for those of us who understand German :-))

rubbish - I averaged more than 30 kilobytes per sec to download this -
way beyond anything dial up will give you

I think the offer must be over now - I went to the link originally
posted, linspire.com and applied the coupon - no need to supply credit
card details, no demo version - just download thru bit-torrent.

it is only the bit-torrent version which is for free - if you want an
http download, then that goes through their servers and could crash
them - so the peer to peer version is the only one they could give out
for free.

I will have a look at the license when i get the CD burned and see if
I can still seed it - I would have thought that once it is out on
bittorrent, it would be difficult to retract ?

cheers

I downloaded the Developer Edition of Lindows 4.3 when the offer was on for
that some time ago....... is this what this is? (I can't seem to get to the
site as it's giving errors all over the place, and the link provided,
doesn't show an option to enter the coupon code when clicking "Apply
coupon").
