Do you think it is worth the price
of a new set to find out if I just have a bad batch of ink?

Probably not. Pigment colorants are not as bright as dye colorant inks,
and probably will never be. They do offer a different pallet. However,
a few things within your description do give me some pause. The cyan
color should not be "weak and watery". It may be worth your while to
remove the cartridge and shack it well and then return it to the
printer. Durabrite inks do require a good mixing prior to installation.
Possibly you neglected to do this being more used to dye inks which
the color is dissolved into the base rather than left in suspension. The
second concern is a color like royal blue is not composed of black and
cyan, but mainly cyan and magenta with some black to deepen its value.
If you are not getting your magenta mixing in there either that head is
clogged, the cartridge is blocked or maybe it also needs a good shaking
and reinstallation.
