I am not the only person sick of your snide remarks.....

You could choose to ignore them. The poster's name is pretty obvious.
I've been an MVP for 5 years continuously now offering advice not only in
the newsgroups, but also on my website and the
computer press.

And your advice is much appreciated, but not when you get involved in a
slanging match.
But perhaps the reason for your resentment towards MVP's in
general is the fact that both I and Carey have MVP after our names and you
DON'T!

Not a mature comment, John.

No offence.

Oh FFS, John, didn't you see the 'smiley'?! Don't you know what <eg> means?!
If you don't like my posts, then you know what you can do, you disgrace to
the MVP programme. If you and Carey are the standard, then it really isn't
much for anyone to aspire to, now is it?

A smiley doesn't make a smartarse remark witty, it simply adds a symbol that
is meaningless in context. Instead of using your knowledge to help, you use
it to demean and to mock. You should be ashamed of yourself.

well I knew the person who said $5000 was being really really funny.. :))
but since I have never replaced one I thought it best to ask... another
question... how do I know which brand or type to get? I have Aida32
installed, and it can tell me what I need to know.. but don't know where to
look??? I'm assuming in the motherboard? thanks Rainy

Once you open the computer case - after properly powering it down - and
moving whatever cables out of the way, you'll see a silver "button" type
battery probably about the size of a quarter.

These are clearly marked as to type and voltage. Write this information
down, and get a replacement - many electronics, drugstores and hardware
stores carry them.

When you have the replacement and confirmed that it is in fact correct, pop
the old battery out and the new one in. Put the covers back on after making
sure you haven't unplugged any internal cabling. Restart the system and
reset the BIOS.

If the system shuts down and restarts properly, yes, it was the battery.
If not, something else may be adversely affecting the system.

Hi.. I feel bad because my sarcastic comment of "really really funny" should
not have been said.. I certainly would like to receive help in the group in
the future.. but do have a comment..

It seems to me that too many people like a good fight and what's strange
about this is, that no one really knows anyone here.. we are all working
from perception... so I don't see how we can get so angry at anyone.. ??

So I apologize to the lady trying to be funny and all of you!

Thanks to all who have been a big help....
Rainy

PS. It's odd to see that other times in other groups I have posted a
problem and gotten no response at all.. Did you see this thread??? WOW!! :)

Rainy you have nothing to apologise for. The lady in question is well known
for comments that put people's backs up.

exactly what settings are you talking about.. in msconfig.. the settings
are the same.. where else should I check? Rainy
