I suffer from dry hands lately, must be an age thing. I have tried at least a dozen hand creams recently and that Dove one was good. Neutrogena a close second.

aye, the age thing, I'm nearly there.

I'll give it a bash, thanks. :)

You see you don't get heads up on IT hardware and software but a lot else as well:D. Thanks up for the Dove Visible Effects as my hands are starting to get dry:thumb:

Wire snips?

Surely you mean sidecutters ? ;)

Nope - wire snips.

You may refer to a tool with it's full, official name, I give them my own name.

Much more fun and a whole heap less boring :)

You should see my name for a ball hammer.

If any of you gents need an instant fix for "sandpapery-rough" hands... Into clean hands, pour some olive oil, (or whatever cooking oil you happen to have) into your palm. Immediately add two or three teaspoonfuls of granulated sugar.

Vigorously rub this mixture into your hands, all over; palms, backs, between fingers... it will obviously feel unpleasantly gritty, but try to do it for a minute or two. Finally, wash off the oily mix with mild soap and warm water.

Hands should now feel like the proverbial baby's bottom. :)

(You can still use your Dove or Neutrogena, etc., but doing the above first, will help if the wee handies are feeling very dry and rough." :)

We have a thing called GoJo over here. It's a white, paste-like liquid used for hand cleaning after performing engine work. Sounds like you just exposed the ingredients.

In my job the ultimate tool is called "black nasty" or hardcore duck tape!
You name the job and it's been stuck by it & even a few people!!

I can remember my Mum telling me that, only she used butter or marge with the sugar. My GP told me that all moisturisers do basically one thing - stop your natural moisture escaping. The cream simply provides a temporary seal which more or less allows a person to self heal.

He prescribed me a huge tub of a basic mosituriser named 'Diprobase' which works wonders on me plates of meat but not so much me mitts, so I'm not totally convinced.

So, gentlemen, what we swapping next? Knitting patterns? Crochet hints? ;)

Some old remedies still work pretty well :)

Hubby was prescribed Diprobase too, for his legs, but he didn't find it all that effective. So we purchased some "Vaseline Intensive Rescue moisture-locking body lotion." Not scented and not too gloopy.

Apart from its title being quite a mouthful... it has proved very effective over several months now. :thumb:

Me da does that with oil and a bit of sharp sand after been working on the cars. Cleans grease off a treat :thumb:

I have been informed by several people that a good remedy for keeping the hands in good order is to anoint them with urine ( they did mean their own :D).

Never tried it myself as I don't have any problems but I thought you all might like to know. :)

:lol::lol::bow: Thank you nvrip for your tip, but I dont think I will be following your advice:eek:, although it was given with great kindness and thought for our health.:lol::lol::lol:
