It went with a bang...

So, our local store had an HP on sale, reduced by £100 to £449. (Yeah I know, a self-build would have been better value, etc., but that isn't possible right now.)

Same PC in the HP store is £449 and if you give them a call they would have sold you one with Windows 7 on it :thumb:

Ok, jut catching up after a busy weekend out and about....

TC, Sounds like you've got a Microsoft account linked to your login. Bin it and use a local account (Like how you login in previous OS's... )

- Then, if you haven't already install 8.1.

- Then install Classic Shell, disable the hot corners.

- Sit back and enjoy a more families Windows experience. :)

- Shout if you get stuck. :thumb:

E: A very comprehensive tweak guide here if your interested. A few handy bits but nothing you cant live without. :)

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions guys, much appreciated (even the tongue-in-cheek ones lol.)

I have just been fiddling and have now got rid of the MS login - can now enter without the hassle. Yay! :)

V_R, it already has 8.1 (I checked on that before making the purchase tbh lol.) I am going to just have a bit of a play with it for a while. It's certainly a bit different and obviously requires the user to do things a little differently, which can sometimes be a pain. But, on the other hand, I'm happy to at least give it a fair go.

If there is too much frustration, I'll certainly head over to get Classic Shell, but so far, it's actually not that bad. Dare I say that I'm finding the differences quite interesting....... However, being a woman, my mind is programmed to change without giving much notice :D

I'm now going to take a look at the Tweaks in your linky. ;)
