Is Vista RTM Delayed

How many years is Vista late now? A few days should not matter. I bet, for
how delayed Vista is, that Microsoft could have written a completely new
operating system, perhaps based on Unix (like OS X and thereby saving even
more time) and had it out by now.


Yeah man. Just what the world needs -- another proprietary Unix. Because
the existing ones are all doing so well.

Notice how I started this subthread simply asking how he manages to spend so
much time on this newsgroup (among others) every single day. It's one thing
to write one-liners, but most of the time he posts multi-KB messages. Even
if I had the time, I can't type that fast.

Notice too how he immediately went on the offensive and completely avoided
answering my question, hoping we'd all forget about it.

Windoz, I'm the one contributing and not you--but that you spend your time

Why would anyone want another UNIX box? There is already HPUX, Free BSD, OS X, Linux & MINIX (UNIX like), Sun OS, and several defunct flavors of UNIX.

Hopefully MS will not get bad press for going to RTM late. I personally see
the delay as a positive sign that MS is working to eliminate bugs rather
than rushing it out the door bugs and all.
 
I was just throwing that out as an idea. I actually like the way Vista looks and acts. However, I am not very impressed with how Microsoft is organized. I think they have been far too much distracted by other projects that they have neglected their the core reason why they are in business. If they had not lost their focus and devoted their talented people to the main mission of the company, to produce the best operating system environment in the personal computer world, we would have Vista already released to the public with everything that was originally promised. A good example of this lack of focus is with the browser. They neglected Internet Explorer to the point where it was surpassed by the competition and they were steadily losing market share.
