Kurt:

The model you suggest is far better in that is has a true FireWall instead of a simplistic
FireWall. It also is a VPN end point. However, as your noted, it is not as common in
stores to be bought off the self and it costs more. (I personally use the BEFSR81)

I find many people to be tight on the wallet and are less likely to buy something that costs
more and is not readily available. Thus, I always suggest the BEFSR41 for SOHO use. If the
end user has increased curiosity on other products and options I point them to other models,
etc.

I got my Belkin router on sale at OfficeMax for $29.95 and the model
includes NAT and a firewall with quite a few bells and whistles

Unfortunately, the Belkin hardware has received low marks from users in Cable and DSL News
Groups. This has been worsened by the Router causing advertisements or Pop-Ups. I have
seen a few threads about this in various News Groups but haven't taken a close look at it.
The following information is based upon that problem....

"Belkin Responds to Customers' Concerns Regarding Routers

Belkin offers firmware upgrade to eliminate browser redirect from all its
routers

(Compton, CA) - November 10, 2003 - In response to a Usenet group posting
stating that Belkin spams its customers through its routers, Belkin
Corporation apologizes for the concern this has caused and is taking action
to address the issue. To allay customers' worries, Belkin will offer a
firmware upgrade that will be available via download from its website
(www.belkin.com) on November 17, 2003. This upgrade will rid the redirect
completely so that no additional browser windows will appear during the
router's installation process."
