I use Win XP SP1 Home edition. If I enable Internet Connection Firewall, I am
unable to visit sites starting with https://...

However, when I disable the firewall, I have no problem. How can I get
around this problem? I want to retain the firewall enabled.

This is odd, as the windows firewall does not block outbound traffic at all.

I am wondering what else might be going on on your computer, especially as
you are still using SP1, and are likely missing a ton of patches as well as
SP2. What's the reason you're not updated? I think a look at your event logs
might be in order as well....

Hello !

Let me start with the advise that you should always keep your firewall
ENABLED for all your connections . Disabling the firewall can result in
hacker/malware infiltration

Although I doubt the firewall has something to do here , Goto Control Panel
-> Network Connections -> open your connection's properties
and open the so called Advanced settings .Click on "Services" tab and check
Secure Web Server (HTTPS) . Apply and ok .Restart .

Learn how to protect your computer and upgrade to SP2 as soon as possible :)
