I have downloaded vista twice now and burnt it to dvd disc but it still won`t
install...
It gets to 90/100% then just says that windows can`t continue, bad or
corrupt files ??
Has anyone been able to install vista ,and is it worth all the trouble ?
cheers
Rob

First...what build are you trying to install?
32 bit or 64?
Someone will post the hash for your build and you can compare it to the
download with a CRC checker to make sure the download is not corrupt.
Also, you need to burn it at the slowest speed your burner will allow.
Paula

Hi Paula ...
Its the 32 bit version I`m trying to install ...
I burnt both times in the slowest speed x2 on my computer .
Can you suggest anything else I can do , or should I download the 64 bit
version ??

Thank you
Rob

Hi Paula...
I downloaded the 32 bit version and burnt it at x2 speed ...
Is there anything else I can do or should I download the 64 bit version ??

Thank you
Rob

Ho Paula ..

The 32 bit version ...
Is there anything else I can do ? , or should I download the 64 bit version ?
thank you
Rob

robbie,
Stick with the 32 bit OS if you don't have a 64 bit processor.
Here is the hash for the 32 bit Vista MD5 hash:
22486e815a38feffd9667317dfeec55a
Only thing is I can't remember if that hash was for Pre RC1 or RC1 so let me
see if I can check on that for you or someone else can chime in here.

Paula

Sorry paula but you have lost me now !!
Can you please explain this "Hash" and what should I do next ?

Thanks
Rob

Here is the link to the Nero MD5 verifier you need to install the check the
download you have for corruption.
http://www.nero.com/enu/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html
Install that software and then follow the instructions to copy and paste the
hash I provided. Then the verifier will compare the hash against your
download.
Do that and then post back here if you need more help.
Paula

Kevin,
Please make sure you identify what bit version you are posting a link to so
that you don't confuse people.
The link Kevin is providing is for the 64 bit version people.
Just FYI <s>
Paula

Hi Paula ..
Thank you for that download link for the verifier ...
I downloaded it and ran the checksum and the figures are the same !!
Original MD5 checksum and the generated MD5 checksum....
So I guess the file is ok, perhaps the burn is no good ??
Do you think that could be the problem ??

Many thanks

Rob

He asked for the 64 Bit Download Link, so I gave it to him, I don't know if
he has a 64 Bit System or not, but what I do know is this Download Link will
be Active for a Limited Time Only, and might have been Posted by Mistake (it
might not be there tomorrow when the Microsoft Windows Vista Beta Team
Employee's return to work), so I wanted to make sure that he has the
opportunity to download the X64 Version of Build 5728, after all the number
of X64 Processor's is increasing all the time with the Intel Core 2 Duo,
Intel Pentium D, and the Intel 6XX Series Pentium 4 Processor's, not to
mention the Numerous AMD X64 Processor's that have been Manufactured since
at least 2003, Just FYI.

And you know for a fact that this will solve his problems because you know
for a fact that he has a 64 bit system.
Right?
Eff Why Eye.

Yes, that could possibly be the problem so let's find out what software you
are using to burn the iso and how you are burning it.
Does your burning software support burning iso files as a image? Some older
or Lite version do not support burning iso's as an image file.
You can't just burn the file to a DVD. You have to burn it as an image.
Are you burning it as an image?
Paula

Rob,

Hope you're not installing this on a production PC... that would be a PC
that you rely on day-in-day-out to do whatever it is you need to do on a
daily basis.

Lang

Yes, he clearly asked for the download link.
He said "Dear Paula, thank you for telling me the 64 bit version will solve
my problem--now please tell me where to download it."
At least that's how you followed the thread?
Or were you too busy looking for opportunities to post
"Ooh ooh look at me, look what I know, look what I did, and look at all the
clubs I belong to. You violated the NDA! FYI!"
So helpful you are.
Thank goodness there ARE people like Paula.

Hi Paula ..

Well I have spent most of the day trying to install this vista with no luck !.
I burnt another disc and it checked out ok , tried the install, great ! , it
went past the previous place where it stopped before and carried on to the
point where it sayd completing the upgrade but then it just hung there
..intotal over two hours !!
I then got fed up and re-booted it where it reverted back to windows xp.
I then tried to install it on a spare formatted drive , but again no luck !
It stopped and said that I need to load the dvd drivers , can`t understand
that as it was reading from the dvd drive installing vista ...

I think I will give up now as its becoming a real pain , pity really because
I would like to see it running ...
But thanks for all your help

Regards
Rob

Robbie111:
I'm glad to see that you finally got Vista x86 installed. Since
you're running Vista x86 you may be able to install the XP drivers that came
with the modem. Drivers for PCI and USB modems are very uncommon for XP x64
or Vista x64.
