I bought a motherboard (ASUS), Hdd (MAXTOR SATA), memory to build a new
computer.

I am in touch with Maxtor who say I have to put the XP first and the system
will ask for me to press F6. The problem is it doesn't want to read the CD
(XP), nor the motherboard CD, nor the floppy with HDD drivers. But they don't
all seem to agree on what to do first...

Could you give me any hint of what I have to do?

Make sure that the CD Drive works, and is properly connected. Make
sure that the hard drive is properly connected and jumpered for the way
you have it connected. Set the BIOS to boot from the CD.

There seem to be a problem here. Who is Moocow?
I just read another post where some spam came into the forum

First in the BIOS set to use SATA,this is found in hd boot
priority(bootable add-
in device) advanced BIOS section, then inadvanced chipset section, integrated
per-
ipherals,onchip serial ata,select,enhanced mode(this enables IDE and
SATA),then
open onchip serial ata mode, select IDE(this sets SATA as ide mode)if another
SATA drive was installed, youd set to RAID.These are typically the 3
settings all
boards need to set to SATA,the terms will vary, the proccedure wont. You also
need
to set boot priority device to cd when booting to xp cd.You may also need
to down-
load and run maxtors DOS utility and format the hd before it will even get
recog-
nized by xp (75% needed).

Thanks... I had to find your answer !!! :)

It is what I did (or rather a tech did...) , and it seems everything works
properly. The BIOS is set to boot from CD first then from Floppy.

What else now?

Thanks a lot
