inserting hyperlink defaults to C drive

Ed, Tom & Terry,

I fixed the problem. Find a page where the relative URL on the insert
hyperlink works properly. Make a copy of that page and save it. Then delete
the contents of that copied page and save it. Open your index.html. Copy the
contents of index.html into the page you created. Rename the copied page
index.html and replace this palge for the malfunctioning index.html page.
Publish it and it should work.

good job. must be the original has become corrupt some how. For info I use 2
machines to to my web. One at work and one at home. I reverse publish each
time I want to update the web before I start working. Do You? Ed

Ed,

No I do not do reverse publishing. I work with one machine. I am the
webmaster for my school district in Kearny, NJ. You can visit our site at
www.kearnyschools.com. It is limited in functionality, but I push the
envelope to the max. Great chatting with you. I hope my fix helps you.

hello there! please excuse me coming into this conversation, but i have
been 5 days with a problem with fp. i am a newbie and it has taken me 2 days
to find this forum for frontpage. i made a post, describing everything around
my problem, but that was 15 minutes ago and there is not sign of it, so i
must have posted in a wrong group or something.

if i explain my problem here, would yuo be so kind as to tell me where i
should post in the right place(a long dropdown menu came with no mention of
frontpage or anything i could recognise) or even, may i dare to hope, you
would be able to deal with it in this thread????!!!!!!!

my problem is that i made a trial navigation bar and uploaded it to my site
(i am hosting with sbi! who do not support 'server extensions. etc. -which i
do not know what they are, actually, but they do not allow you to use them)
so i set authoring tab, in Tools - page options, to None for 'frontpage and
sharepoint technologies' )
my navigation bar worked beautifully, but then i wanted to test more to
learn, and i included a link to another site (i am making one for a friend of
mine as well as mine) and since then something has changed in frontpage and i
can not upload to sbi! - they say i have some file or folder included that
should not be there.(They are not able to give support for our own html
pages)

ALL icons for folders in the folders list, (even if i create a new website)
have superimposed on them a small, brown, diagonal 'pencil-like' shape.

I have tried to delete every website from frontpage, but the last website
will not disappear and keeps coming back, even though i choose the delete
this site completely from existence option, whenever i try to start again
from scratch and make a new website, this url is still there, but has an
ever-increasing number immediately after it?

i will be incredibly grateful if anyone can help with this problem? (to know
what i did by name and how to inactivate it)

1) FP automatically assigns a site name (incremented by 1) for each new site you create
- does not mean there is any site there by that name and you can change the name there to whatever you want

2) In a FP web w/ pages open for editing in FP the pages will show the "pencil" icon indicating the file is open for editing (ignore
the icons)
- plus on many PCs w/ too many folders/files for the system icon cache the icons in FP can change to anything (even icons not
related to FP)
(again the icons are just a guide and are meaningless w/ respect to your actual site & publishing)

3) Some low cost hosts do not allow any files w/ _underscores (required by FP for FP nav bars w/ images or themes)
- so don't use FP Nav bars (or use text only nav bars), or get a different host

I have a similar problem, but in this case, when i log into my FTP in Front
Page, it refreshes my index page links.

Basically i have a photo gallery on my index page that when you click on one
of the pictures it goes to another page instead of a bigger view of the
actual picture. But when i log into front page now, or when i try to add a
new page, it always changes the index page to remove the links to the other
pages, back to a link with the larger view of the picture. It did not do this
before, but now it does this all the time.

Is there a fix for this? Or is this is how Front Page is and i should start
using a different program? Let me know, because it is frustrating to go in
manually through the FTP and edit the links everytime i update or log into my
site through Front Page.

Thanks in advance
