IfranView Question

Or, more intelligently, associate the .log extension with Notepad (or
text editor/ viewer of your choice), once, in Windows.

I thought of mentioning that, but it seemed too obvious for them not
to have noticed the possibility. (-;

my pointwas that it is possible to view log files in IrfanView,
not that it's a good idea though.

Believe it or not, some good has come of this little subthread. It's
always annoyed me that by default IrfanView loads and displays text
files when moving through directories, but I was always in the middle
of something when the annoyance occurred and I never changed the
setting. Because of these posts, I finally remembered to do it.

I know you're all fascinated. ;)

THANK GOD you finally did it! ;-)

Exactly. As I've said twice now (this will be the third time) my point
was simply that you *can indeed* view .log files in IrfanView, *not*
that it was a good idea. I've had the .log file extension associated
with Notepad since Windows 3.1.

Duh! Because Windows makes you associate with a specific program. Hmm,
come to think of it, Macs kind of do the same thing too.

Unfortunately, computers don't think like humans.

Neither does Microsoft.

I was simply saying that it is indeed possible to view .log files in
IrfanView. I never said that it was a good idea, but Andy implied that
I was saying just that.

No, I did not.
He was wrong.

No, I was not.

I simply stated that it is more intelligent to make a single change to
one's system and then to view logs in a text editor or viewer.

Is your nervousness making you paranoid?

See, told you I must be missing something! :)

I was hoping to use this in place of QuickView Plus, didn't realize it
was meant only for images.

Any freeware QV Plus replacements out there?

Thanks! (And sorry I didn't pay closer attention to the product
description...)

Irfanview can open those ascii files. Select File/Open Ascii file, but
it won't open them by association. Notepad will open any text file by
association.
