Aak!! 615 Alert!!! Run for your lives!!! ;-)
I think he was talking about a system level 615. Some powers and some
opterons all living in a yellow submarine, connected by the glories of
HT3.

I guess I ought to read the HT3 draft spec to see how they improved the
data integrity.

Since Socket F is supposed to be designed for future Opterons with 4 HT
links rather than 3 links, it's supposed to be good for 16 socket
glueless systems.

Yes, and the existing 3 links were supposed to be good for 8 socket
systems but they were basically non-existent.
Well, Nvidia discovered the main advantage of Hypertransport early: let
the CPU do all of the heavy-lifting. So it wouldn't surprise me that
Nvidia is supplying the same chipsets for both the desktop and server
markets. What else would you need extra between these two markets?

Not much except PCI-X, which is provided by an AMD 8000 series PCI-X
tunnel in most servers housing nVidia chips.

And PCI-X is being replaced by PCI-E in the server space too, so
there's no difference between a server chipset and a desktop chipset
anymore. Most servers these days are even coming with SATA drives too,
at least for their internal boot purposes, all of the big data go on
storage arrays, which are usually fibre-channel, not SCSI anymore.
