I don't like the new Start Menu

Mhm... :] And, you forget to add: and this is the reason of popularity of all
programs, which are... removing last used programs and last opened docs from
Start Menu LOL.
Of course, above sentence is not valid in case, that you're using Win for:
solitaire, Minesweeper, OE and IE only :]

100% right :) I'm moving (in XP) all start links to MANUALLY created groups
(similar as yours) after each installation.

:) in XP, try to do such thing: right-click on the Start menu, then go to :
explore. After this, create few new folders: Gaming, Media, Work, etc. Next:
move all item to categorized folders... effects can amaze you :)

Yes, thank you, I started to categorize items in Start Menu long ago. BTW
every self-respecting piece of software lets you customize Start Menu path
for its icons during setup.

However, I fail to see your point since you can do exactly same in Vista.
And, come on, you don't use Start Menu to launch your most used programs
anyway. It is too much of effort in both XP and Vista and any OS that uses
Start Menu idea. You have desktop icons, quick launch, keyboard shortcuts,
recent porgs/docs and search/run prompt for this.

My point is that IMHO new start menu layout just requires less concentration
to navigate. Probably it doen't speed up navigation but it is more compact
and easier to navigate. To me it is much more convenient to click (even if
more that in XP) and use mouse wheel than guide mouse cursor all over
desktop by complicated trajectory.

:) this is in real: same. Only one difference is: "pop-ups" versus
"scrolling". for both, you have to navigate carefully with mouse. My answer
was general: if you don't like the all screen covered with pop-ups - you can
categorize. In Vista: you have to scroll through all programs, or through the
group :)

thats what I do, but many dont know this..

that chap made that program for novices.... and vista could have had that as
a cleanup wizard just as it has the desktop shortcut cleanup wizard...

Hopefully MS will put out a hotfix to add XP style all programs support.

Studies have shown most users didn't even use the menu and used Windows XP's
recently used programs far more often.

Hi,

Try Vista Start Menu. A superior alternative to the Start menu.
