I urge you to go to the Linux Section that we have on this forum and read up as much as you can time permitting, I can assure you you will really benefit from it. I am working on installing the Linux OS on my new Laptop and will share all the information with you if need be as our laptops would have many similarities.

Mucks is the "Resident Expert" so all difficult questions should be ideally sent his way. :)

Put simply, it is an alternative operating system to Windows :)

Linux ... is a free "Unix-type" operating system originally created by Linus Torvalds with the assistance of developers around the world.

Developed under the GNU, General Public License, the source code for Linux is freely available to everyone.

You can Have it ALL for FREE ... :D

Bex's Link will give you lots of information ... anymore than that, pop over to the Linux section and ask away, I'll do my best to point out the 'pros' & 'cons' ... :D
 
i hesitated about posting this and i am getting called a moaner ... knew i shouldnt have.

yes there are high and lo's but i needed something to do i even said i only wanted a chat. I wouldnt say it was a negative post, just at the time there were over 1000 users and only about 2 new posts ... all i was saying it isnt as much as usual ! no harm ment.

Don't take my words too littery ... I was not talking to you directly but to all at PCR ... you aint seen a moaner till you see me on a wrong day. ;)

i noticed that actually lol :D ... i didnt set up this thread to 'have a go' or anything lol ... i was just generally bored at the time lol and needed a talk!! to my surprise i come home from school and see three pages for me to read!:p
