In a previous incarnation of Slade's site on all things Canon he had noted
the name of the company he thought was the manufacturer, but I don't see
that info on the latest upgrade to his site. He has tightened it up, made
it less "run-on" in style, and removed some of the redundancy that made it
tedious to read. If you are interested, you can go onto the Slade site at
http://www.neilslade.com/papers/inkjetstuff.html. Read his stuff and then
go on the link for the nifty-stuff forum from Slade's site, sign in, and ask
the question to Rob or Neil. I don't care who makes it - I just know that
it has worked great for seven or eight months in my i960 and the color match
is excellent. By the way, some of the clog problems with cartridge refilling
appear not to be head clogs after all but relate somehow to frequent removal
and replacement of the cartridges when checking ink levels and/or refilling.
You would do well to go on to the forum and read the posts as they are quite
informative about the whole issue of non oem inks and carts. Some of the
info will confirm your skepticism, and some will educate you to the
complexity of the cart system and diagnosing printing problems with oem,
aftermarket carts, or refilled carts. The bottom line is that using oem
carts is not a guarantee of smooth sailing, and some extra knowledge is of
benefit when trying to diagnose problems, when they occur, with OEM,
refilling, or aftermarket carts. I used only OEM carts in my Epson printer
and had occasional head clogs and the need to go beyond the proscribed Epson
head cleaning routines. I really don't mind the slight additional
complexity that refilling canon carts puts on me - sort of like not minding
steering the course when boating instead of leaving it on auto pilot.
