How Microsoft sees this newsgroup

Hi Tom,

This is written in this thread by me to Jay B.

I am wondering how people get selected but more if ever someone from
Microsoft responsible for the newsgroups is seeing this newsgroup.

The last 4 months I have only seen things from some Microsoft guys with
Asian types of names, but that was only a kind of contribution, not involved
in the newsgroup communitiy, and surely not things as looking to this
newsgroup. No reaction on bugs, only one time when there was it seemed a
customer who was very angry and maybe had contacted Microsoft.

This is also once mentioned by Fergus and then he said we are in the
backyard newgroup from Microsoft.

There where some guys in this newsgroup (I am not talking alone about me)
who did a lot of good work for Microsoft.

This is become the far most largest developer newsgroup from Microsoft (and
normaly comparising with other newsgroups with very short threads, so even a
larger newsgroup)

While I get messages from people from other newsgroups that the behaviour is
so nice in this newsgroup.

From this newsgroup (you cannot say you are with the most active ones in
this newsgroup) is no one awarded by Microsoft for his work in the VB.net
group. This is more obvious because Jay B also has not becomed a VB.net MVP.

Cor

Mattias answer was dead on. And so you know, they removed the
distinction between a vb and vb.net mvp.

And yes - a people here are noticed.

That about throwing rubish is of course not you Herfried, you could thing
about that.
:-)

I shaw a change in behaviour from MPV's from other newsgroups comming to
this group.

I didn't change my behavior, but I learned a lot.
You throw sometimes also rubish (connection strings on the wrong place is
the most done), but mostly it is "or very good, good or not bad".

I am /still/ learning. I am not very familiar with database stuff, so I
appreciate to be corrected if I am telling rubbish.
And how about Armin, what he contributes is also not forever very good,
however very often it meets standards that most MVP's except Jay B even
cannot reach.

It's not up to me to decide who is elected as MVP.

Once another MVP told me: "If you think it's time you will be awarded,
you are on the half way".

Hi Mattias,

If you did know more of the VB.net newsgroup you could have seen that I am a
long time active here.

Your answer to me is as someone once wrote to me, Cor you looks if you are
from Micorosoft now with this answer.

But that answer I could read myself he told me, the rest of his writing was
in the trend that he told that he was expecting from me an answer, not a
response.

But you are for me one of those MVP's I was talking about, knows nothing
from VB.net but throws sometimes a useless response in this newsgroup.

The same as you do now.

I checked your answers in this newsgroup last month,

There where almost only about application start, about the int64 and about
redim,

Greath contribution Tom for the rest it where answers as above.

I see now what it needs to be a VB MVP

Hi Herfried,

You do not need to go in this discussion, this is something you are (not
yet) good in.

But thanks for your answer not written words from someone you know a little
bit, tells enough.

:-)

Mattias isn't very active in this group, but I think he didn't get
awarded for his contribution to /this/ group /only/. I won't comment
the rest of your statement.

Hi Tom,

I checked your answers in this newsgroup last month,

redim,

Well, I've been pretty busy lately. I haven't had as much time to spend
in the groups as I would like. So, many times things are answered
before I have a chance :) I don't see any need to reiterate what
someone has already said. And like Herfried, I'm not familiar with
database stuff - so I don't have anything useful to say there. It is
something I'm just now starting to work with, though.

The fact is Cor that I have been posting on VB groups for quite some
time. Years in fact. On both MS and non-MS servers. And I only got
awarded in October.

Nothing I said was meant to be a personal attack. I know you are a
great contributor to this group - and I'm sure that it is noticed. If
you haven't been awarded yet - don't take it personally, just keep doing
what you're doing and I'm sure it will happen.

In the answer from Matthias, is something that can bring my writing in a
wrong direction which I absolute did not mean.

I find that you (and I hope I do not forget one of you) do a greath job in
the dotnet newsgroups being active more or less in the background of the
groups.

I only took the shortcut "Asian" names because with that I recognise you
always.

Cor

Hi Tom,

Accepted, I have already said to much words in this thread I normaly not do,
so I keep it with that.

(To get an answer in the way you know me, I was making a message on that fax
message of you that had bring you to the bottom, now I forget it of course,
even although I have a better answer).

:-))

I never said that you weren't, did I?

Oh, and FWIW, I've been posting here for about two years longer than
you according to Google, so I think I know this place pretty well.

Your answer to me

.... was a sincere attempt to answer some of your questions. I'm not
sure exactly how to interpret your reply, but it looks mostly like a
lame attempt to pick a fight. I hope I'm wrong.

knows nothing from VB.net

Interesting, I'd like to think that I do, so how did you come to that
conclusion? I assume you can back it up with some facts.

but throws sometimes a useless response in this newsgroup.

If you think my posts are useless, feel free to plonk me.

I always appreciate your posts, especially if you are correcting me!

Why than writting that previous message.

I told you people here are not waiting on responses but on answers.

But please EOT.

I take part in a discussion if I think it makes sense (for me).
