I have my main productivity system which dual boots to Linux and Xpee. My son has a similar system and my daughter has a Linux only Laptop all connect to my router wirelessly. I also have a Linux file server which we all use. That makes 4 computers in my house and as my eldest is only 14 I assume ownership of them all - well they assume I will fix them when they break so that makes them mine. That does not include my PalmOne Trio 600. :D

Good to see you are getting yours kids started on Linux so early :D Welcome to the site :)

I got 5 computers

I have 3 Pentium 4 HT Laptops with top notch specs + 1 Dell Dimension 5000 (Just ordered) and 1 Pentium I machine (I don't know what it is doing but it is in my home Hee hee).

My beautiful mutant pride and joy, and another 2 in various states of disassembly.... might try an sell some bits. Maybe. If I can be bothered.

I`m about to start another thread which (I think) is linked to this one... :) But different, so deserves a new thread

I only have the one PC for now, although I have plans for another coulpe over the coming months.
I plan to build one for my mother, so that she can use it without bothering me, and I also plan to build another for testing various different components for reviewing on my website. This would mean that I can be working on my main PC and be testing the various components on the other test machine.

Only 1

I have only 1 PC. Just purchased it at the start of March. Used to have P3 800MHZ. But was bought 2nd hand. Eventually it was passed it for playing any of the new games. . I done my homework. Asked people for their opinions. I was informed and read on other forums that the Athlon 64 processors are far better for games than the Pentium 4. Heres what i bought and price.

Athlon 64/3000 Socket 939 CPU...................7490

Mainboard with 939 socket with VGA slot
NEO 2 .......................................... 5990

2x 512 Ram(400)......................................... 5520

160GB HD (MT).......................... 3540

DVD writer Samsung...........................3100

CASE 350 watts .............................1100
Speakers 1000 watts..............................750

Total.................................................. 27100 Thai Baht.
70-74 Baht to the pound. I'll let you do the maths. But it would be 300 and odd quid.

Really happy with this system. Great for all the new games on the market. HL2 etc I already had a decent graphics card so i didnt have to buy anew one. Graphics card. ASUS V9950 Geforce FX 5900.

Hi All...

My rigs:

Sam - My PC
Best rig in the house - Abit IC7-G, 3.02GHz P4 (Oc'd), 512Mb OCZ PC4200 RAM (DC'd), 2x Samsung Spin Point SATA drives in RAID 0, ATI Radeon 9800pro @ 9800XT Speeds... Win XP

.....

Off to college now... Chris :)

Hey Chris, how would you rate those HDD's ? I was thinking about buying a pair of 80GB @ $62.00 a piece. Are they really good or could I find better with a few extra dollars??

They are VERY VERY good drives - dead silent and very fast. We have 3 in the house - i have 2 in mine and 1 in the office PC... None have failed yet - while a Maxtor and a WD have died on me. Very reliable little things.

Serial number for that model is something like SP0281C or very similar...

$62 each not bad!!!!!

I have a few but they are mostly 2nd hand and slow (by todays standards) but great for linux server boxes :)

I've got two PC's. Me and my partner spend most of our time linking them up and battling it out on Delta Force BHD. Of course I win everytime!
