Are you using an Exchange Server? If so, you can click on DELETE ITEMS, then
on TOOLS - RECOVER DELETED ITEMS.

Usually, Exchange servers are setup to save the last 10 days of deleted
items - they can be recovered sometimes.

If you aren't using an Exchange Server, and you've already emptied your
deleted items folder, I think you're toast.

no RECOVER DELETED ITEMS on the drop down list

I know this is over a year on since you wrote it, but I have just found your
solution by searching Microsoft's site and solved my problem! I too, cannot
believe I didn't see the + sign!

Only option to recover deleted emails is to try & evaluate third-party
software
