Hot Mail e-mail address

I have a Hot Mail account in which I have a no longer used/valid e-mail
address, and it keeps bouncing of course.
How can I remove this e-mail address from my Hot Mail account?

So edit the account in the UNNAMED e-mail program to specify your
legitimate E-mail address. But then if it is a "no longer used" or "no
longer valid" e-mail address at Hotmail, why do you even bother keeping
around a useless account defined for that useless Hotmail address?

That's my problem. I do not know how to delete/remove my account.

Click on the contacts label.
The list will appear - scroll to the one you don't want.
Put a checkmark in the box for that contact.
Then just click the "delete" option.
If this is your own Hotmail account and "free":
Click on help, and you will find the option to remove.
If paid of any nature, you must sign in accounts-billing.

I am using Hot Mail.

<sigh> but are you using a WEB BROWSER or an EMAIL CLIENT such as Outlook
Express or Outlook?

Right - so you are not using an email client, you are using a web-browser.
The only way to remove a hotmail address that is no longer used, is to not
use it! (AFAIK) Presumably you have another hotmail address that you DO use?
Just log on with that, check the "always remember me" boxes and that should
solve the problem.

If you wish to delete a CONTACT that is no longer valid, log onto your
account, select "Contacts" and delete it!

Yes I do.

Go www.hotmail.com (preferably using IE) > Click on CONTACTS button/link >
Select (highlight) the contact in question > delete it using the DELETE
button.

NB: This will also delete the contact in the Windows Live/MSN/Windows
Messenger account associated with your Hotmail address.

As I said in one of my earlier posts, there are no contacts in that
Hotmail account.
I went to another Hotmail account, and the contacts are e-mail addresses
that I've installed in the list. MY name/e-mail address is not listed.

Yes, I have another e-mail address that I use. No longer using the one I
want to remove does not work. This has been pestering me for months, and it
has not gone away.

So you /really/ want to Close a freeHotmail account, yes?

Log-in to the account at www.hotmail.com then go to this page:
http://by124w.bay124.mail.live.com/mail/CloseAccountConfirmation.aspx

Otherwise, see Hotmail Help > Close an account.

This takes me to my MSN Home Page which I don't use, because I use Firefox.
There is no "Close Account Conformation".

There is no "Close an Account" in Hotmail Help.

On the Hotmail page, click on Help > Enter "close account" (w/out the
quotes) in the Search box > ...

<QP>
How to Close a Hotmail Account
To close a Hotmail account, stop using it. After thirty days any unused
account becomes inactive. After ninety days, the Passport becomes inactive.
You can also close your Hotmail account from within the account itself. To
do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Help on any Hotmail page.
2. Type Close Account in the keyword search section of the Help screen.
3. Click the Close Your Hotmail Account tip within the Help screen.
4. Click the Close Account link that is highlighted in blue.
5. Read the instructions. When you are satisfied that you understand the
terms associated with an account closure, click Close Account.

NOTE: After an account has been closed, any folders and e-mail associated
with the account are deleted and cannot be recovered.
