This might do you.

Oh no, I've had one of these before. no thanks, it let the temperature go over 80*C! I sent it right back to the shop!
At that extreme point, the computer cuts off and there is a small amount of smoke coming from the cpu area.

Ok I got the Akasa AK-876. It works fine. At no load, my CPU is 42*C and at full load, it never exceeds 46*C

Unfortunalely for the motherboard even after installing a working case fan, the temperature stays at 44*C with no load but at full load it stays at about 45*C to 46*C. Getting worried about the motherboard...

I wouldn’t worry about it to much because the max temp is 50C and anything over that is not good. Did you use thermal compound paste?

Motherboard now goes up to 48*C.

And the cooler came with thermal compound.
CPU now goes to a maximun of 52*C! It's getting worse, but not as worse as before... Yet...

Are these temps at Ideal or underload?

Thanks,

Wiz

I have a couple of older QX6700 quads that run 24/7 crunching away at 100% load at temps around 80C -they've been doing this for over 1.5 years full time now without any issues.

The motherboard is fine too at the moment, but if your new CPU cooler is pushing out warm air from the CPU and its not being extracted from the case properly then the motherboard temp is going to be affected - extra case fans in the front, and a good powerful one at the rear to produce a wind-tunnel effect through your case will help.

Stop panicking and enjoy your PC :D

Unfortunatly I have to have all 3 case fans on low otherwise they are too noisy.

In which case your temps seem fine to me.

You either need to put up with more noise or get quieter fans - however I don't think either are needed as temps are OK.

Including the motherboard?

It's just that I've been hearing rumours that over 50*C is bad in other earlier posts.>

Anything over 50C is not good. Temps given by CPU manufacturers are extreme limits, not comfortable operating temps.

Seriously, aim for 50C or below.

Or you may experience instability.

Or there again, you may not ;)

Flops was talking about CPU temps not Motherboard - and regarding the 50C, its something to aim for it is not definitive in anyway - personally I would be more than happy with up to 60-65C running at full load 365 24/7 in the current ambient temps we are having.

Regarding motherboard temps - personally again I still don't see it as a problem - if you are worried then you will have to do as I suggested, increase the case fan speeds and put up with the noise or get more powerful quieter fans.
